Objective
Marere Film Festival main objective is to promote and screen feature films related to art in any of its major artistic forms (cinema, painting, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, literature, and their derivatives), as well as other audiovisual and cinematic works that bring culture closer to the public.
Dates and Venue
The second edition of Marere Film Festival will be held from March 17 to 22, 2026, in Jávea. The central location will be the Jayan Cinema, located at C/ Santísimo Cristo del Mar 14, CP 03730 Jávea (Alicante).
Cash Prizes: 5,000€ Screening Fee Features: 250€
The jury will grant the following awards:
Best film in the official section – €3,000
Best film in the “Mirades Regionals” section – €1,500
Audience Award for Best Film at Marere Fest – €500

II EDITION – MARERE FILM FESTIVAL. FILM & ARTS FESTIVAL
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Objective
The main goal of the Marere Film Festival is to promote and showcase feature films related to art in any of its primary forms (cinema, painting, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, literature, and derivatives), as well as other stage, audiovisual, and cinematic works that bring culture closer to the public.
Dates and Venue
The 2nd edition of the Marere Film Festival will take place from March 17 to 22, 2025, in Jávea (Xàbia), Spain.
The main venue will be Cine Jayan, located at C/ Santísimo Cristo del Mar, 14 – 03730 Jávea (Alicante).
REQUIREMENTS
General Requirements
Submitted feature films must meet the following criteria:
Produced after January 1, 2025
Runtime between 60 and 120 minutes
Fiction, animation, biopic, or documentary
National or international productions
Films must be submitted in their original language. If the language is neither Spanish nor Valencian, they must include Spanish subtitles or authorize the festival to subtitle them.
Official Section
In addition to the general requirements, films submitted to the Official Section must:
Be produced after January 1, 2025
Not have premiered in commercial theaters prior to the festival
May have been screened at other festivals or competitions
The main theme or a significant aspect of the work must relate to culture or any of the Fine Arts or their derivatives (cinema, painting, dance, music, sculpture, architecture, literature, photography, theater, etc.)
“Mirades Regionals” Section
In addition to the general requirements, films submitted to the “Mirades Regionals” section must:
May have been screened at other festivals or in commercial cinemas in the six months prior to the festival
Be produced in the Valencian Community, Catalonia, or the Balearic Islands and filmed in the co-official languages of those regions
Have a free theme
PARTICIPATION & SUBMISSION
The submission period runs from 01/09/2025 to 18/01/2026. There is no limit on the number of films a director or representative may submit.
To participate in the 2nd edition of the Marere Film Festival, films must be submitted via one of the platforms where the festival is registered.
SELECTION
The festival organizers will select the films that will compete in the festival from all the submissions received. This decision is final.
Selected participants will be notified and must confirm participation within one week and provide promotional and screening materials.
Each selected film screened at the Marere Film Festival will receive €250 in copyright royalties. This will be paid after the festival upon receipt of an invoice for €250 from the director, representative, or production company holding the rights.
Only the festival organizers may publicly announce the selected films. No announcements may be made by representatives or filmmakers before the official announcement.
PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
Selected films must provide the following for promotion and inclusion in the festival catalog and website:
Trailer in DCP and mp4 formats
High-quality poster
Technical sheet and synopsis in both Spanish and the original language
List of awards and festival selections
Press kit
Promotional stills
SCREENING MATERIALS
Screenings will be held in Digital Cinema Package (DCP) format, in compliance with DCI standards. The DCP must remain available to the festival until its conclusion.
The DCP must be pre-verified for proper functioning and audio/video synchronization.
If KDM keys are required, they must be provided one week before the screening, with an unlock window starting at least 72 hours before and ending 24 hours after the end of the festival. KDMs must be supplied at no cost to the festival.
The DCP must be in the original language version with Spanish subtitles if not in Spanish or Valencian.
If no DCP is available, films may be submitted in mp4 or similar formats, and the festival will be authorized to convert the film to DCP.
SHIPPING OF MATERIALS
Shipping costs for selected films’ materials must be covered by the director, representative, or production company. The Marere Film Festival will not be responsible for any shipping expenses.
DCPs may be sent electronically or physically. If sent physically, all related costs will also be borne by the representatives.
SCREENING SCHEDULE
The date and order of screenings will be determined by the festival organizers. Once a film's participation is confirmed, it may not be withdrawn or released in theaters prior to its screening at the festival.
PRESENTATION
Authors or creative teams of selected films are invited to introduce their films before the screening. This presentation will take place on the day of the screening.
The festival will cover accommodation and meal expenses up to €300 per team for guests traveling from outside the Valencian Community.
JURY
The jury will be appointed by the festival organizers and meet the following criteria:
At least 3 members from the film or arts sectors
No juror may have ties to any competing film
The jury may declare any award void
Jury decisions are final
AWARDS
The jury will present the following awards:
Best Film in the Official Section – €3,000
Best Film in “Mirades Regionals” Section – €1,500
Audience Award for Best Film – €500
The monetary prize will be awarded to the production company that submitted the winning film. The production company must issue an invoice including VAT for the prize amount to the festival organization.
FESTIVAL BRANDING
Award-winning films must include a reference to the prize at the beginning of all distributed copies (to other festivals or commercial venues) and in press materials.
This reference will include the festival logo and award title, provided by the organizers.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE GUIDELINES
Submitting a film to the Marere Film Festival implies acceptance of all the above rules.
The guidelines may be modified due to force majeure. Any changes will be communicated to the relevant parties by the festival organizers.
