MICA is an international short film exhibit dedicated to promote and support the work of Independent filmmakers, students and the public in general.

We welcome films of ALL GENRES including Documentary, Boudoir, Music Videos and Experimental.

- Best Actor / Trophy and Certificate
- Best Actress / Trophy and Certificate
- Best Director / Trophy and Certificate

We recommend reading the entire Call before submitting your short film. Registration and participation in the Inaugural MICA implies full acceptance of these regulations.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

- Registration for the Inaugural MICA will be from Thursday April 7th, 2022, until Sunday November 13th, 2022, at 23:59 pm Mexico Time (GMT-06:00).

- Participants may submit shorts of all genres including fiction, documentary, animation, experimental and student films.

- The maximum length of the shorts must not exceed 16 minutes, including credits. *The committee may make exceptions.

- Films can be submitted through Festhome.

- Short films are welcome from any country.

- Only completed films will be accepted.

- Any year of production may be submitted.

- Films of any format may be submitted, from smartphone to any camera.

- Participants are not limited to how films maybe be submitted.

- All films must include:


*Short film: 
Digital format Full HD 1080p (1920×1080 pixels in progressive frames) H.264.

*Short 2-3 line Synopsis in english and Spanish.

*Data Sheet: credits, shooting location, year of production and length of the short.

*Poster: 300 dpi, .jpg or .png file formats.

*3 Stils: 300 dpi, .jpg or .png file formats.

*Director’s photo: 300 dpi, .jpg or .png file formats.

*Trailer: Full HD – 1080P – H.264.

- All SELECTED shorts in english will have to include Spanish subtitles for the screening: these subtitles will be placed at the filmmaker’s expense;

- All shorts in Spanish must include english subtitles: these subtitles will be placed at the filmmaker’s expense

- Registration does not guarantee acceptance at the exhibit.

- Short films that previously have been released may participate.

- All selected shorts will be contacted by email and through submissions platform.

- The official selection will be made by the committee.

- The Official Selection will be announced on January 22, 2023 on our website and social media platforms.

- The committee reserves the right to admission.

- Once the Short Films have been selected, the filmmakers will have a deadline to rectify their information.

- The selected films may be part of a screening organized by MICA, and will compete for the Golden Henequen.

- The materials submitted from the selected works will be used to promote the festival.

- The MICA Committee will establish and announce the screening dates.

- All selected films will be retained by the Committee as part of the film collection of MICA.

- If chosen as part of the Official Selection, no film may be withdrawn from the festival.
MeshFest will not pay screening fees for any short film.

- All participants are responsible for the rights of their shorts.

- All short films, including the soundtrack, script, characters and others, must be original. - - - Any case of plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.

- By registering, you declare and guarantee you have full legal right, authority and all necessary consents, licenses and approvals, to present the film at the exhibit.

- MICA is not liable for any claims, lawsuits, damage, legal fees and losses resulting from the screening of the short film.

- All selected works and winners will receive a statuette, a certificate and “Official Selection” Laurels.

- Festival awards will include: 

*Best Cinematography.
*Best Actor.
*Best Actress.
*Best Director.
*Mexican Short Film.
*International Short Film.
*Best Short Film. 


- In case of not being able to collect the award, the cost of shipping will be the responsibility of the person who registered the film.

- Registration and participation in the Inaugural MICA implies full acceptance of these terms.

- Any unforeseen situation in this Call will be resolved by the committee of MICA.

- The Terms and Conditions are subject to alterations—any changes will be posted on the MICA website.
