Mostra Cinepoesia 2025 is an action that promotes dialogue between cinema and poetry, with the screening of experimental short films, kinetic poetry or video poetry made by filmmakers, poets and multi- or transdisciplinary artists for a cinematographic event.

The event proposes the selection of approximately 20 authorial works for the screenings, unpublished or not, among them those selected from subscribers, guests and the Mostra collection.

We are looking for synergy between images, sounds and words in the works submitted. The presence of poetry is essential in the audiovisual works selected, whether narrated, spoken, sung or written.

This way of making cinepoetry is a powerful inspiration for us and opens doors for directors who work with materiality in contemporary poetics, using language experiments.

Our 2025 tribute goes to Lúcia Murat, an important Brazilian filmmaker. We highlight her experimental cine-poetic spirit, her ability to wander between documentary and fictional cinema, and her historical movement of resistance and memory of women's body-territory.

For the 2025 edition, Mostra Cinepoesia has confirmed the following dates:

21.06- Call for Proposals Opening

31.08- Call for Proposals closes

10.09- List of Selected Works.

29.10- Premiere of the in-person screening at the Cinemateca do MAM in Rio de Janeiro.

30.10- Premiere of the Screening and Opening of the Popular Jury at the Cinemateca do MAM online.

05.11- Awards ceremony at the Cinemateca do MAM online.

A plaque/trophy for the video poetry that receives the most votes from the popular jury in the online voting.

The audiovisual works submitted must have a maximum running time of 5 minutes and must be sent in digital format (FULL HD 1920x1080) in an H.264 file.

In the case of works in a language other than Portuguese, subtitles must be incorporated into the video. The event organizers will not be held responsible for works sent in with incorrect subtitles or translations that do not correspond to the original audio.

Works that include hate speech, prejudice, racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, child abuse and animal abuse will not be accepted.

When submitting an audiovisual work, authors and directors guarantee that there will be no minors on stage. The respective directors of the creative team described in the credits declare authorship of the texts, images and soundtrack in the audiovisual work. The authors and directors declare that they are 18 years of age or older and are responsible for the terms of the copyright assignment of the work. The authors and directors responsible for the work acknowledge and guarantee that all copyright and permissions to use the image and voice of those who act, as well as the images, photos, poetry, texts, music and soundtrack are their property, allowing their work to be shown (in full or in part) at the exhibition and publicity events of Mostra Cinepoesia 2025.

Mostra Cinepoesia is not responsible for any infringement of copyright incurred by the authors and directors of the works submitted, whether they are by subscribers, guests or from the collection, any legal claim will fall to and be answered by the authors and directors of the works screened in the context of the Mostra.

The selected audiovisual works will be made available for screenings, dissemination, events and media promotion organized by Mostra Cinepoesia 2025.

We ask that the audiovisual works selected and available on the internet be placed OFF or NOT LISTED during the period of the Mostra.

The SELECTED works submitted and those of guests will be included in the proposed POPULAR JURY; the works in the collection will not be voted on.

After notification by e-mail by September 3, 2025 to those responsible for the SELECTED works, they have 5 days (until September 8, 2025) to return the following requested material:

Contract signed by the person responsible for the audiovisual work entered.
Information about the work: 1 poster, 2 frames or still photos, the technical sheet with the credits of the team, photo(s) and mini-bio of who signs the authorship of the general direction and poetry (300 characters), and, synopsis (300 characters).

H.264 video file in high definition digital format - FULL HD 1920x1080 (with subtitles incorporated into the video for works in languages other than Portuguese).

If the person responsible for submitting the selected audiovisual work does not respond within 5 days of the e-mail notification sent by Mostra, the work will be disqualified and a place will automatically open up for the next one on the list.
