OMID international student short film and photo festival in 10th edition will be held in July, 16-19, 2021 in Tehran. This Festival is willing to receive students’ short films and photos from all around the world. OMID festival, Founded by Iranian ministry of science, research and technology, is the biggest student art festival in Iran and is hoping to discover great talents and show them to the world. Submissions open in May 6th, 2021 and will be closed on June 10th, 2021.

Festival is receiving artworks in the fields of Short film and Photo in two sections:

Main Competition section:
Participants are free to choose any subjects for their artworks.

Special Section:
Participants should choose subjects from list below:

1- Drug Addiction and other social diseases
2- World against violence and radicalism
3- Tehran, capital of Iran
4- Life in the time of Coronavirus

Best international student Photo

Rules and Terms for Films:

1- Film Directors must be students.

2- Films are accepted in these four sections: Fiction/ Animation/ Documentary/ Experimental

3- Films must be with a duration of a maximum of 30 minutes for a special screening during the Festival.

4- Films must have been completed after January 1st, 2019.

5- The Selected films cannot be withdrawn.

6- Any incomplete submissions or uploads will not be accepted.

7- In case of any copyright violations, all the responsibility and judicial accountability are on the filmmaker.

8- The films submitted from outside of Iran will be attended only in best international film award.

9- There are no limitation in the number of films submitted by each director.

10- Films must be uploaded in any sharing platforms like Google Drive or Drop Box and participants should submit the link in submission form in the festival’s website.


Technical regulations for films:

Video Codec: The film must be encoded as an H.264 file.

Supported Extensions/Containers: .mov, .mp4

Recommended Frame Rate: 24fps

Recommended Film Resolution: HD, FHD

All films must have external SRT subtitles in English.



Rules and Terms for Photos:

1- Photographers must be student.
2- Photos are accepted in two forms: single photo / photo series
3- Each participant is allowed to submit up to 10 single photos and 1 photo series (2-8 frames)
4- Photos can be B&W and color photos.
5- Putting any watermarks, signatures and other information on the photos are not allowed.
6- In case of any copyright violations, all the responsibility and judicial accountability are on the participants.
7- Photos files must be smaller than 10 Mb (with minimum of 1600 pixels in shorter side)
8- photos must be uploaded in any sharing platforms like Google Drive or Drop Box in a zip file and participants should submit the link in submission form in the festival’s website.



Festival’s basic regulations:
1- Participants must be students.
2- Submission is only by the festival’s website.
3- There is no submission fee.
4- Festival can use photos and up to 3 minutes of selected films for teasers showing in the media.
5- Participants must upload these photos in the submission form: Artist’s photo (film and photo section) / backstage and stage photos and film poster (film section)
6- Submitting artworks in the festival means accepting all the rules.
7- The list of the selected films and photos will be published on the Festival’s website (http://www.festivalomid.ir) early July, 2021.
8- The festival committee will decide on any case which have not been stipulated in this regulations document.
