The Ópalo Film Festival is a short film festival organized by "Asociación Rosa Púrpura". Born in Burgos (Spain), with the aim of giving the city the festival it deserves. We seek to promote culture in our province and value the audiovisual works of small local artists.

"Más que Metraje" Best Short Film Award - 500€

OBJECTIVES:
The Opalo Film Festival's main objective is the dissemination of audiovisual culture in Spanish, including in this name all Ibero-American audiovisual productions.

Among its more specific purposes is the dissemination of audiovisual works of a cultural nature in the province of Burgos, the promotion and exhibition of audiovisual works by local filmmakers and the support and promotion of young audiovisual talent.

For the development of these objectives, the Ópalo Film Festival will celebrate its 1st edition from July 19 to 25, 2021.


SECTIONS:
- OFFICIAL SHORT FILM SECTION: Fiction, animation or documentary short films made after January 1, 2020 and with a duration never exceeding 30 minutes.


SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARDS.
REGISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION:
To participate in the 1st edition of the Ópalo Film Festival, it is mandatory to register and complete the registration form, exclusively through Festhome (www.festhome.com), before June 11, 2021.

In case of not completing the above, the audiovisual works will be excluded from the selection process.

In order to register correctly, you must first create a profile on Festhome, register the film on that platform and register for the Ópalo Film Festival. If only the film is loaded on the platform, it will NOT be registered in the Festival. Subsequent registration at the Ópalo Film Festival is required.

The registration fee for the Ópalo Film Festival through Festhome will be € 2, which does not include, if any, specific fees from the Festhome platform.

Those participants who either, due to their geographical location and / or conflicts in the country, have online registration problems may request their participation in the short film contest through the following email address: contacto@opalofilmfestival.com


JURIES:
The Festival Management will designate the pertinent juries, whose decisions will be final and will not have to be justified. People with interests in the production, distribution or any other aspect of the selected audiovisuals may not be part of the juries.

The prizes may not be declared void, nor may those that entail an economic endowment be awarded exaequo.

The juries of the different sections in competition undertake not to publicly express their considerations about the selection of audiovisuals in competition.


AWARDS:
Award for Best Short Film "More than Footage": € 500


PAYMENT OF PRIZES:
The economic amount of the prizes will be subject to the deductions determined by the legislation in force at the time of their payment by the Festival Organization, and will be understood, in any case, included in the economic allocation of said prizes.


AUDIOVISUAL OBLIGATIONS:
The selected short films will remain in the archive of the Ópalo Film Festival for an indefinite duration. No screenings will be held outside the Festival dates and their use will always be non-profit.


REQUIREMENTS OF THE SELECTED AUDIOVISUALS.
PROGRAMMING AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS:
The participation of the audiovisual in the Festival implies the acceptance of its exhibition as many times as the Festival deems it appropriate within the dates on which it takes place.


VERSIONS:
All the projection copies of the selected audiovisuals in the different sections of the Festival will be presented in the original version, and those whose original language is not Spanish must include subtitles in this language.


PROJECTION FORMATS:
The selected audiovisuals must submit a projection copy in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format before June 25, 2021.
Projection copies in DCP must comply with the DCI regulations, and will remain in the possession of Ópalo Film Festival until the conclusion of the last screening scheduled within the Festival.
In addition, the company, distributor or individual who has registered the selected film must certify the proper functioning of the copy (synchronization of audio / video, color, etc.), testing it before it is sent to the Festival.
Said company, distributor or individual will also provide the Festival with the necessary KDMs, with a minimum window of 72 hours and taking charge of the expenses derived from generating them, as well as the management of new KDMs if necessary.
The Festival reserves the right not to accept copies that, after the necessary technical checks, are not suitable for projection, providing a technical report to the film's representatives and requesting a new copy.


IMAGE CONSIDERATIONS:
The mere participation in the Ópalo Film Festival will allow production companies, distributors or individuals, the insertion in the head of the audiovisuals of the Festival logo with the indication "1st Edition". Said logo and legend may also be included in all the written press inserts, as well as expressly mentioning this participation in the different audiovisual supports in which the publicity of the film is included prior to the Festival or during its celebration. For the correct insertion of the logo, which in no case can be altered or adapted, the Opalo Film Festival style manual can be consulted at www.opalofilmfestival.com or, in case of doubt, contact the organization.


PRESS AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL:
The Festival press department will contact the respective production companies, distributors or individuals representing the selected audiovisuals in order to supervise and coordinate the necessary materials, and to which the media and the accredited will have access.
The production companies, distributors or individuals representing the selected short films authorize, by accepting their participation, the use of one or more fragments of their title for dissemination as informative material in any media.


ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS:
These participation bases may be supplemented or modified by the Festival Management with as many other attachments as they deem appropriate, prior to the start date of the 1st Edition of the Ópalo Film Festival.
Their interpretation will be the exclusive competence of the Festival Management.
In the event that the Festival has to be postponed for health reasons due to the Covid-19 health crisis, the respective production companies, distributors and individuals representing the selected audiovisuals will be contacted in order to determine if their participation continues. in force on the new dates established.

The registration of an audiovisual to competition in the 1st Edition of the Ópalo Film Festival implies full acceptance and compliance with these Rules of Participation and their possible annexes.
