PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES

1. Submitted works may include fiction or documentary films, either feature-length or short. Films should be of interest to the LGBTQ+ communities.

2. Works submitted must be Puerto Rico premieres, meaning they have not been previously shown on television, in commercial cinemas on the island, or online. We reserve the right to select or reject submissions.

3. For the pre-selection process, we accept online screeners (e.g., on Vimeo, YouTube, etc.). You may also submit your work through the Festhome platform. By submitting through these platforms, you certify that you are informed of the submission terms and conditions.

4. Screening copies must be accompanied by a completed and signed participation request. If you submit multiple works, please complete a separate application for each. If you submit your work through Festhome, you do not need to fill out a separate application, as submitting through these platforms confirms that you have read and accepted the participation guidelines.

5. Including promotional materials for the film (high-resolution digital images, synopsis, etc.) is recommended. Please include the link to your film's trailer in the email.

6. PRQF may use up to 3 minutes of footage or images from the work for promotional purposes (reels, programs, website, promotional videos, etc.). Permission is granted with submission. Any restrictions on using this material for such purposes must be communicated in writing when submitting the registration form. Once the film is accepted to screen, the PRQF may request additional artwork or promotional material for use on its website.

7. english or Spanish subtitles are welcome for all films. Films in a language other than english or Spanish must be subtitled in english or Spanish unless dialogue or commentary is unnecessary for comprehension and appreciation.

8. Submitted works must be sent by April 12th, 2024.

9. If your work is selected, you will be notified by email.

10. The accepted format for screening copies is DCP. Alternatively, you can provide a download link for the film in HI-RES Quicktime Movie format. For the Quicktime format, please ensure the following specifications: preferably in H.264 codec, NTSC standard, and a resolution of at least 1440 x 1080 pixels, as we will project at this resolution.

11. If your work is selected, transportation of the screening copy to the festival must be covered by the applicant. The festival will cover the cost of returning copies from the festival.

12. PRQF is not responsible for the loss or damage of copies in transit to and from the festival. In the event of damage or loss of the copy during the festival, our liability is limited to the cost of repair or replacement of the copy.

13. Once submitted, works cannot be withdrawn.
