Festival start: 31 July 2026      Festival end: 02 August 2026

Rhyller Thriller — once described as the ungodly love child of a film festival and a horror convention — returns for its fourth year. Lauded for putting Rhyl, North Wales on the horror map, our festival has grown into a celebration of the eerie, the uncanny, and the delightfully unsettling.

This year’s event unfolds over three packed days. Across genres — from giallo and slashers to speculative nightmares and tales born of folklore — attendees can expect a rich selection of features and short films, all presented on our custom 9 ft screen within the atmospheric surroundings you’ve come to love.

Following each film or block of shorts, audiences will enjoy insightful Q&A sessions with the filmmakers — conversations that reveal the heart and imagination behind each project and will be shared across our social media.

Our dedicated team truly loves horror, and the depth of discussion, unique atmosphere, and sense of community you’ll find here are unlike anything you’ve experienced. With a fully stocked bar and a variety of alternative stalls, there’s something for every fan of the strange, the spectral, and the unsettling.

We understand the passion, effort, and devotion it takes to bring your films to life — and we’re honoured that so many creators trust us with their work. We can only hope you’ll join us again this year, to be thrilled, chilled, and perhaps even unsettled in all the right ways.

Bloody seagull award for best feature and short film

To be considered for a bloody seagull award you must follow these rules .

Nothing hateful just for the sake of being hateful.

Non english speaking films welcome but must have subtitles.

Must have heart in abundance.

Must be from an original script.

One prize given for best independent short and one for independent feature.

Short films must be between 3 and 20 minutes to be entered for an award but longer films may still be shown at the festival.
