Celebrate the history of South Indian cinema with the Salem Short Film Festival. Known as one of the pioneers in early cinema, the industry has since moved base to Kodambakam in Chennai. The Salem Short Film Festival aims to broaden the reach of arts and films to the people of Salem and surrounding towns and promote local talent as well.

For short films upto 30 minutes including credits.

Cash Prizes: 1,500$

Prizes totalling $1500 ( 1 lakh Indian Rupees) for top 3 places in the Student, General and Special categories

* Films must have been completed after January 2013 to be eligible

*For Special Category entries on Salem, atleast 60% of the film must have been shot in salem (or) the Director and/or Producer of the film must be a resident of Salem (proof of residence required) (or) the film must be about Salem.

* For Student entries, a copy of an official student ID is required.

*If selected, a press kit including posters, director's biography and film synopsis is recommended, but not required.

* Selected films will be showcased on satellite tv through our media partner to promote film makers submitting to the Salem Short Film Festival. Filmmakers can choose to opt out of having their films shown. Unless requested otherwise, filmmakers grant Salem Short Film Festival the right to showcase their films as mentioned.

* Submission to Salem Short Film Festival does not guarantee screening.

* Applicant can submit more than one entry to the festival. Each submission requires an entry fee. Entry fees are non-refundable.

* Films Submitted will not receive screening fees for showcasing films

* For entries not in English or Tamil, subtitles are required.

* Entrants are responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses, royalties, release forms, clearances, permits necessary to present their work. Salem Short Film Festival is not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work.

* By submitting to Salem Short Film Festival, you confirm that you hold the rights to (or are authorised to use) any and all audio and video in your short film. Salem Short Film Festival will not be held responsible for any claims stemming from the failure of the creator/submitter to properly obtain the rights to material submit and/or screened.

* All Decisions made by Salem Short Film Festival are final.
