The SETTIMO SENSO International Film Festival, now in its fifth edition, invites professional directors, schools of all levels, and emerging creatives to participate in this esteemed international short film competition. The festival celebrates diversity and promotes a message of equality through the narrative and visual power of short films.

Themes:

1. UTOPIA/DYSTOPIA: exploration of ideal or catastrophic visions of the future, offering reflective insights on society challenges and hopes.

2. POSTHUMAN: investigation into the transformations of the human being, exploring the boundaries between nature and technology and possible evolutions of the species.

3. ONIRIC: exploration of dreamlike and surreal worlds, encouraging directors to bring narratives and visions beyond conventional frameworks.

4. WALLS THAT DIVIDE THE WORLD: reflection on the reality of physical and symbolic boundaries, exploring how such walls influence human and social relationships.

5. BETWEEN HISTORY AND IMAGINARY: interweaving of narratives combining historical elements with imaginative dimensions, offering a unique perspective on the interpretation of history.

6. DIVERSITY IS EQUALITY: theme celebrating the richness of human differences, promoting a message of equality through the narrative and visual power of short films—an experience challenging prejudices and embracing diversity in all its forms.

7. FOOD AND WINE: exploration of human relationships through food and wine, reflecting on gastronomic culture and its impact on our lives.

8. HEALTHY MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY: exploration of the connection between mind and body, focusing on stories revealing the link between physical and mental well-being.

9. CITIZENS OF EUROPE AND THE WORLD: narration of stories about individuals overcoming cultural and geographical barriers, promoting a sense of global citizenship and interconnection.

10. THE SENSE OF WONDER: invitation to directors to capture the essence of wonder, inspiring audiences through stories celebrating the beauty and surprise of life.

Premios en Metálico: 1,000€

AWARD CATEGORIES:

1. First Work (for Beginners): cash prize of €1000 for the first winner.

2. Italian Short: cash prize of €1000 for the first winner.

3. International Short: cash prize of €1000 for the first winner.

4. School Short: cash prize of €1000 for the first winner.

5. Short created with AI Art: cash prize of €1000 for the first winner.

6. Advertising Spot in collaboration with Sponsor Companies: cash prize of €1000 for the first winner.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:

• The competition, to be held in MAY 2024, is open ti first- time and professional filmakers and schools of all level

• Submissions must be in MP4 format and have a maximum duration of 20 minutes.

• Participation is free.

• Film selection is at the discretion of the Festival Director. A technical-representative jury of experts, appointed by the Festival Director, will evaluate the selected films in each category and award prizes to the winners.

• Authors bear all responsibilities for the material (audio and video) produced for the presented work and the accuracy of the information declared in the participation form.

• Submitted works may be used by the organizers for screening in other artistic, cultural, and social contexts for promotional purposes of the festival and its proposed themes. Submitted works will not be returned.

• Participation in the competition implies complete acceptance of the present provisions under Legislative Decree 196/2003, coordinated and updated, most recently, with the changes introduced by Legislative Decree no. 24/2023.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Short films must be submitted by the deadline of MARCH 1, 2024, to settimosensofestival@gmail.com, along with the completed registration form attached to this call.
Technical-Representative Jury: Works will be evaluated by a qualified jury consisting of experts in the artistic and cultural sectors.
Collateral Events: The festival includes various collateral events, including lectures, workshops, conferences, screenings of award-winning shorts, and presentations by notable figures.

Awards and Visibility: Winners will receive a cash prize and the opportunity for national and international visibility through the SETTIMO SENSO International Film Festival.

NOTE: The intellectual property of this project, including all activities related to creations, inventions, literary and artistic works (excluding those personal to participants), designs, symbols, logos, as well as names and images used, remains and will remain the sole property of Dr. Arianna Rita Di Tomasso, the sole creator of this project. Dr. Arianna Rita Di Tomasso holds exclusive rights to the intellectual property of the SETTIMO SENSO International Film Festival under the legal codes of Italian and European legislation.
