Urban View and Dances with Camera - international contest, open for everyone

Grand Prix Tour and Poznań open - only polish films allowed

Modern, intense, exciting. Short Waves Festival will be in Poznań for the sixth time, from March 30 until April 6 2014. Before that it will travel around dozens of cities in Poland, Europe and all over the world.

MAXIMUM 30 MINUTES. Short Waves Festival means the best Polish and international short films. Created by both professionals and amateurs. There are no genre-relate tags. The format is open which allows to present the richness of short forms: feature films, documentaries, animations, video clips and experimental pictures. Careful selection guarantees a high level of screenings.

GLOBAL REACH. Short Waves Festival means screenings in numerous cities in Poland and all over the world, such as Mexico, New York, Berlin, Barcelona and Riga. It promotes Polish creators abroad. During the stationary part of the festival in Poznań it presents what is the best in international short cinema.

RECORD PRIZES. Short Waves Festival means the highest prizes for short films in Poland. The total sum of money: 60 000 PLN. The most important, Poznań Open (20 000 PLN) is given by an international jury. The audience decide who is awarded with the Grand Prix (20 000 PLN). Dance experts are members of the jury in the Dances with Camera (8 000 PLN) competition.

ORIGINAL PROGRAMME. Short Waves Festival does not copy any patterns and puts original reviews and fresh ideas first. Among premiere events: the first Polish competition offering an award for the best film about dance, a review of short films about architecture (both beautiful and ugly) and “Horny Berlin”, which is a marriage of retro picture and contemporary music.

UNKNOWN STARS. Short Waves Festival is a chance to see the biggest stars of Polish cinema in new and less obvious roles. Among actors who seek acting challenges and running away from mainstream film productions are Danuta Stenka, Kinga Preis, Andrzej Chyra i Arkadiusz Jakubik.

MODERN FORMAT. Short Waves Festival is the audience’s event. Intimate, available and engaging. Intense events, which involve not only films, are waiting for viewers. The festival integrates cinema, music, new media, design and architecture.

-URBAN VIEW COMPETITION REGULATIONS

URBAN VIEW is an international competition for short films with the subject of architecture, design and urban planning. The entry is open to live-action films, documentaries, animations, music videos, experimental films etc. The prizes are awarded by an international jury, but there also is an audience prize.
General provisions:
1.1. The organiser of the Festival is FundacjaEdukacjiKulturalnej Ad Arte (Ad Arte Cultural Education Foundation), ul. Hawelaoska 1, 61-625 Poznao, Poland.
1.2. The festival takes place from 6th to 29th March 2015.
1.3. The international Urban View Competition takes place from 22nd to 29th March 2015 in Poznao. 1.4. Film submission: 1st September - 31st December 2014.
1.5. The Organiser of the Festival does not charge for submitting a film. The applicant covers the costs of sending a copy of their film. The copies will not be returned.
1.6. Films will be selected by the Festival's Organiser.
1.7. The titles of the films qualified for the Competition will be displayed in the Festival's website, the submitters will be informed directly, by phone or by e-mail.
1.8. The information on awarded films will be displayed in the Festival's website; the winning film authors will be informed personally, by phone or by e-mail.
1.9. The winners of the competition receive monetary awards.
2. Formal requirements:
2.1. The competition is open to short films with the subject of architecture, design and urban planning. The maximum length of a film is 30 minutes; the Organiser may allow slightly longer films to take part in the Competition. The form of the film is not subject to regulatory limitations.
2.2. On submitting the film for selection, one also has to submit:
- preview and screening copy (technical requirements – Point 3) - electronic entry form – to the address selekcja@shortwaves.pl - signed entry form – to the Organiser's address:

2.3. Films taking part in the Festival may be submitted by individuals, by institutions and by groups of people submitting as one participant (group participant), that are producers having the right of disposition of the film or who have received permission from the producer owning those rights.
2.4. A participant submitting a film to the Festival must possess copyright laws, which include music used in the film's soundtrack. In the opposite case the participant is obliged to attach a statement defining the legal status of the film.
2.5. The date of shipping of a film and the entry forms counts as the day of submission (Point 1.4). 2.6. The Organiser reserves the right to not accept the film for the Competition when the requirements described in 2.1 - 2.5 are not met.
3. Technical requirements:
3.1. The detailed technical requirements are listed on the entry form, available at www.shortwaves.pl.
3.2. The Organiser reserves the right not to accept a film for the Competition when the technical requirements described in the entry form are not met or when the technical quality of the film is faulty.
4. Responsibility:
4.1. The Organiser does not take responsibility for film copies that are not delivered to the required address or for those whose delivery is delayed due to circumstances beyond control (e.g. shipping companies' delay).
4.2. The submitter pledges not to withdraw their film from the Festival.
4.3. By submitting a film to the Urban View Competition, the author gives their permission for a public, free-of-charge presentation of their film during the Festival screenings in Poznao.
4.4. Submitting a film for the Competition gives the Organiser the right to use promotional materials and fragments of the film (a trailer or a max. 2 minute fragment of the film) free of charge in the Festival promotional activities.
4.5. Films qualified for the Competition may be used in 10 screenings after the Festival as a part of the Organiser's promotional activities in the area of short film.
4.6. The Organiser reserves the right to prepare dialogue lists in languages other than English.
5. Awards and commendations
5.1. The awards are given by a jury chosen by the Organiser. 1st Urban View Award – 3000 PLN
2nd Urban View Award – 2000 PLN
3rd Urban View Award – 1000 PLN
5.2. The audience gives the Urban View Audience Award (1500 PLN) by voting with the voting cards prepared by the Organiser.
5.3. The Organiser reserves the right to change the award sum or the award division.
6. Final resolutions:
6.1. By submitting a film to the Festival the participant accepts the rules.
6.2. By taking part in the Festival the participant gives the Organiser the right to process personal data of the participant in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, 29th August 1997, Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland No 133, item 883.
6.3. The Organiser reserves the right to change the date and the duration of both the Festival and the Competition without stating cause, if it does not affect the acquired rights of the participants of the Festival.
6.4. All matters not stated in these rules are decided on by the Festival's Organiser represented by the Director of the Festival.



-DANCES WITH CAMERA COMPETITION REGULATIONS

DANCES WITH CAMERA is an international competition for short films focused on dance. The entry is open to live-action films, documentaries, animations, music videos, experimental films etc. The prizes are awarded by an international jury, but there also is an audience prize.
