SMOF in Argentina is the only animation film festival with a focus on stop motion that is currently taking place in South America.

An international and competitive festival, with a clear emphasis on audiovisual education and training, it promotes cinema and its creation as transforming tools for society.

Every year SMOF offers short film competitions, industry panels, workshops, exhibitions, clinics, seminars, laboratories, meetings, conferences, lectures given by leading figures in animation from Argentina and from different parts of the world, free of charge, to facilitate access to public to educational and training proposals of international quality.

JURY AND PRIZES

The jury will be made up of outstanding professionals from the field of national and international animation.

The decision of the jury is unappealable.

AWARDS

The winners will receive a diploma and trophy of the festival.

The participation in the contest supposes the acceptance of the bases.

SMOF Stop Motion Our Fest

9th edition

The subject of the contest will be the creation of an Animation Short using the STOP MOTION technique.

The works selected as finalists by the jury will be screened within the activities of the Argentina stop motion Festival that will take place from June 29 to july 5, 2026 at several venues within the city of Bs. As, Argentina.

COMPETITION RULES

The contest is open, with no age limit.

Individual or collective.

The following categories in animation will be awarded:

-Best Latin American stop motion short.

-Best international stop motion short.

-Best documentary animation short (2D, 3D, stop motion)

-Best Music Video in Stop Motion

-Audience Award

1. Participants can present their work individually or collectively.

2. The works must be original with the free use of music rights.

3. Works made from 2024 to the present can participate.

4. Works with mixed techniques can participate where more than 70% is done in stop motion.

5. The official language of the Festival is SPANISH. If the work includes dialogues in any other language, a subtitle file in english or Spanish must be attached.

6. Those selected will be notified via email.

All the selected works will be named in all the festival's social networks. If the participant does not want his film to be considered for Non-Competitive Categories, he must indicate it by checking the corresponding box on the Registration Form.

7. The Festival will not pay screening fees for the selected works.

8. The filmmakers will not be able to withdraw their works until the end of the contest.

9. The festival does not cover tickets and accommodation costs for the selected filmmakers.

10. Greater consideration will be given to registered works that have not yet had their premiere in Argentine territory.

11. Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of the regulations.

Deadline FOR SUBMISSION OF WORKS

From september 15, 2025 to march 5th, 2026.

JURY AND awards

The jury will be made up of prominent professionals from the field of animation both nationally and internationally.

The jury's decision is final.

Awards

Winners will receive a festival diploma and trophy.

Independent awards:

The Independent awards are awarded by audiovisual entities external to the Festival.

Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of the rules.

OTHER SCREENINGS
The organizers may exhibit the selected short films after the festival as part of touring exhibition programs. These screenings may be public or private, and be held anywhere in the world by the festival itself or by third parties, but only with free admittance and on cultural or educational purposes.

ABOUT COPYRIGHT ISSUES
Works which use pre-existent images or sound will be accepted under the entrant’s responsibility in which respects to third party’s copyright. The entrants will be responsible for claims of any nature that third parties might perform in respect to production credits, copyright, inclusion rights, performers’ rights, etc.
