TERRA FILM FESTIVAL is an international environmental short film festival. We welcome productions that address ecological, territorial, green, human, animal, and climate-related topics, among others, from a variety of genres. At TERRA, we seek voices from different countries, cultures, languages, generations, and contexts. More than just a film festival, we create a space for cinematic outreach, environmental awareness, and the growth of filmmakers who believe in cinema as a form of resistance and care.

The selected films will be part of our in-person event on July 5, 2025, held at an independent cultural venue in Medellín, featuring screenings, open conversations, and awards for participating projects.

Location: Medellín, Colombia

Medellín is a city with a rich cultural scene, recognized nationally and internationally. Nestled among mountains and streams, it blends history, independent art, and social movements that make cinema a powerful tool for reflection, critique, memory, and social action. The festival takes place in a cultural space that hosts film cycles, workshops, fairs, and community-based creative projects.

Terra Film Festival will recognize and award short films that explore themes related to the environment. Honorary mentions and special recognitions will be given for outstanding achievements in directing and screenwriting, celebrating the talent and passion behind each story.

RULES AND TERMS

Theme: Environment in a broad sense (nature, climate, water, territory, extractivism, activism, ecofeminism, animal life, urban ecology, indigenous or territorial stories, etc.).
Genres: Fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, hybrid, among others.

Screening: Films will be screened in person in Medellín, Colombia.

Event date: July 5, 2025.

Rights: By submitting, you authorize TERRA to use fragments, images, and trailers for promotional purposes.

We do not accept: Films that include animal cruelty.

Students: For student fee rates, we will request proof of student status (student ID or certificate).
