TERRA FILM FESTIVAL is an international environmental short film festival. We welcome productions that address ecological, territorial, green, human, animal, and climate-related topics, among others, from a variety of genres. At TERRA, we aim to bring together filmmakers, audiences, and cultural agents in a shared space. More than just a film festival, we create a platform for cinematic outreach, environmental awareness, and the growth of creators who believe in cinema as a form of resistance and care.

Selected films will be part of our in-person event on July 5, 2025, held at Teatro Lumière in Medellín, featuring a program of screenings, open conversations, and awards for participating projects.

Medellín is a city with a rich cultural scene, recognized nationally and internationally. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, the city blends history, independent art, and social movements that have made cinema a tool for reflection, memory, critique, and collective action.
The festival takes place in a cultural space that hosts film cycles, workshops, fairs, and community-led creative processes.

Terra Film Festival will recognize and award short films that explore themes related to the environment. Honorary mentions and special recognitions will be given for outstanding achievements in directing and screenwriting, celebrating the talent and passion behind each story.

RULES & TERMS

Theme: Broadly environmental — including nature, climate, water, territory, extractivism, activism, ecofeminism, animal life, urban ecology, indigenous or place-based stories, and more.

Genres: Fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, hybrid, and other forms.

Screening: All selected films will be screened in person in Medellín, Colombia.

Event date: July 5, 2025.

Rights: By submitting, you authorize TERRA to use stills, clips, and trailers for promotional purposes.
Note: We do not accept films that include animal cruelty.

Student discount: To access student fee rates, you must provide proof of student status (student ID or certificate).
