The City in Film Award will distinguish the best films related to urban issues. It can be fiction or documentary, a short or a long feature. We are looking for films that relate to the city, where the city plays a relevant role in the mood, theme or narrative of the film.

All genres and durations are welcome.

The 4 selected films will be screened live and the best film awarded in July 2021, right in the heart of historical Lisbon, in the mystical Alfama.

THE CITY IN FILM AWARD IS A SPECIAL PARALLEL SECTION OF THE CINALFAMA LISBON INTERNATIONAL FILM AWARDS AND IT WILL FILL A SPECIFIC DATE OF ITS MAIN EVENT PROGRAM: THE CINALFAMA ANNUAL AWARDS!

The official selection is composed of the 4 selected nominated films.

Promotional material of the 4 films will be viewable on our site (www.cinalfama.com) and on our social media pages. If the submitter willingly allows, it can be integrally displayed.

The films awarded in the Lisbon yearly ceremony will receive a trophy.

The City in Film Awards is an integrant part of the Cinalfama Lisbon Annual Awards Event (link), that will be held in Lisbon in July 2021.

The 4 nominated films and final winner rightful owners of the rights, in each edition, hereby authorize the film’s live screening in the Cinalfama Sessions. This authorization is an indispensable condition for the inclusion in the festival’s official selection.

There can be, if the jury by its own quality so decides, two winners ex aequo.

Selected films will also be eligible for the People’s Choice Awards that will take in consideration all the films screened in the Cinalfama Lisbon Annual Awards.

The entrant/submitter/moviemaker hereby certifies that he possesses the right(s) and all of the proper clearances to submit the movie, including, but not limited to image rights, talent releases, soundtrack and/or source music releases; and assumes all responsibility for their material. The CITY IN FILM AWARD accepts no responsibility, financial or otherwise, for any movie submitted to the festival.

Every entry/submission will be judged based on its directing, acting, technical, and artistic merits, as related to the submission. All decisions made by the judge(s) are considered final and incontestable.

The City in Film Award only accepts online screeners. Please submit them via online platforms. We do not accept discs or any downloadable files.

Entry fees are nonrefundable.

Multiple entries are allowed.

Submissions in languages other than English must be subtitled in English.

We accept every kind of film released after 2012.

Selected nominated films will be made public and notified and promoted in a clip on the website, on facebook and on the main event screening.
