The Villammare Festival Film & Friends is organized by the Villammare Film Festival-Golfo di Policastro Association. The competition between short films was the beginning and is still the backbone of the Villammare Festival. The attention to the short genre wants to be an opportunity to give space to experimental cinema, to young talents, and to the evolution of cinematographic languages. The Villammare Festival Film & Friends wants to be an opportunity for international filmmakers and an occasion to contribute to the cultural liveliness and the promotion of the territory south of Salerno in a wider context.
It includes a competition between short films, one between feature films, meetings with personalities from the world of culture and cinema, attention to soundtracks and environmental themes, debates, in-depth analysis, shows and tasting moments after watching the film.

Rules contest short films 2020


1.Organization and Goals


The Villammare Festival Film&Friends is organized by the Association Villammare Film Festival–Gulf of Policastro.

The short film competition was the beginning and is
still the backbone of the Villammare Festival. The focus on the short genre is intended to give space to experimental cinema, young talents, and to the evolution of cinematic languages. The Villammare Festival aims to be an opportunity for filmmakers, Italian and foreign, and an opportunity to contribute to the cultural vibrancy and promotion of the territory south of Salerno in an international context, promoting exchanges between European countries and spreading international cinematography with the aim of educating the public to a wider cinematic culture.


2. Location and Date


The Villammare Film&Friends Festival, now in its 19th edition, will take place in Villammare (SA) from 22 to 29 August 2020.


3. Requirements to participate


a) For the 2020 Edition, there are two sections:

- Category "Free Theme";

- "Ecological and Environmental Themes" category.

This last section was included in view of the Festival's commitment to environmental protection, with the implementation of plastic free and CO2 free strategies for the
waste reduction; importance of these issues today; of the intentions of promoting the territory, placed by the Festival, and the place of conduct of the event: an area of high environmental value in the heart of the National Park of Cilento, the Diano Valley and the Alburni;

b) For both categories, fiction, animation and any other kind of short film are allowed;

c) Short films of all sections must not last more than 15 minutes;

d) Participation is free. Each author can also submit more than one work to the competition and can participate in both categories (for example: if he sends two works, one free themed and one on ecological issues he can enter both, each

Via Irace - Vibonati (SA) in the reference section, so if you have two or more related to different sections or to the
same section);

(c) However, only short films deemed worthy, to the unquestive judgment of the organization, will be admitted to the competition;

(f) Unpublished works are preferred. However, works already presented and awarded to other competitions are also accepted, provided that they have not already participated in the previous editions of the Villammare Festival;

(g) The essential requirement for participation in the competition is the authorisation to process personal data under Legislative Decree 196 of 30 June 2003 and ss.

The Villammare Film Festival-Golfo Association of Policastro is committed to treating the data in a lawful and correct manner for the purposes of the competition only (e.g. informing of the outcome of the selections, allowing the awarding of prizes, making known the news, deadlines and calls of the upcoming editions of the competition, etc.). At any time, after the conclusion of the 19th edition of the Villammare Festival, participants will be able to request, in writing, to delete their data from the Association's archive.


4. Awards awarded


4.1 Best Short Film Award

a) For the 2020 edition, the overall winner of the short film competition, selected from all the finalists of the various categories, will be awarded a trophy by the festival's artistic jury. Any cash prizes will be disclosed later.

b) The winner will commit to the VFF's laurel on his work.

4.2. Legambiente Award to the "Green and Environmental Themes" category

a) The best short film in the category "Ecological and Environmental Themes" will be awarded a Trophy awarded by Legambiente that supports and sponsors the Festival and its best practices.

4.3 Special Award "A Short for Rotary – End Polio Now"

b) The Rotary-End Polio Now Special Prize, valued at 1500 euros, was first established in the 2018 edition at the behest of the Rotary Club sapri- Gulf of Policastro. b) The rules and methods of participating in the Special Prize can be found at the bottom of this document in Appendix A.


5. Sending works

(a) Short films can be sent for free as a downloadable link at corti@villammarefilmfestival.it, or in DVD format;

b) You can also nominate your own short films using the Festhome platform. In this case the organization does not take responsibility for the relationship between the author of the Association Villammare Film Festival – Gulf of Policastro Via Irace - Vibonati (SA) short and the platform, which follows its own rules, independent of the Festival and indicated instead in the contract that the filmmaker signs independently with the platform;

c) The deadline for short films to be presented is 29 June 2020;

d) All works received will be kept in the Association's archive and will not be returned;

e) The Villammare Film Festival – Gulf of Policastro Association takes no responsibility if the videos are lost or arrive damaged or incomplete and cannot be admitted to the competition. Please make sure receipt of the e-mail for the transmission of the short or the integrity of the DVD;

(f) The person who subscribes to the participation sheet, by entering the film in the competition, assumes the responsibility of being the legitimate representative authorized by all those entitled to the work.


6. Admission to the competition


a) To be admitted to the competition you need to fill out the membership card in all its parts and send it, along with the copy of the short film, the synopsis, the author's card, the technical data of the film and any other advertising material you want to add (photos, posters, etc.), to corti@villammarefilmfestival.it (also vimeo with password), or send it to: Villammare Festival c/o 105 TV, Loc. The Planets 84070 – Villammare (SA). b) It is welcome but not mandatory, sending any backstages or short
comments on video by the director or authors on the shorts. They will be used in the course of special pre-the Festival broadcast on 105 TV (local private television of the province of Salerno), with the aim of presenting the shorts received and in competition or at least for the promotion of the Festival and the selected works.

c) Preferential title is the fact that foreign language short films are subtitled in Italian.

d)The choice to tick the short airbox is optional. If crossed out, the short, even if not selected in the competition, can be included in the specials and programs dedicated to the Villammare Festival made by 105 TV during the year. If the box is not ticked, if the short is selected, the author will be contacted by the organization to release the release to transmit
on 105 TV the short for the only evening of the Festival in which he will be competing.


7. Selection of works and next steps


a) The Villammare Festival Film&Friends will choose from the shorts that will register for the Festival, the 100/120 short films that will constitute the "official selection" of Villammare
Film&Friends Festival 2020. From them then the artistic jury, composed of competent Association Villammare Film Festival – Gulf of Policastro
Via Irace - Vibonati (SA) personalities from the world of film and entertainment, will choose the 2020 finalists and the
winners;

b) The shorts that will enter the Official Selection will be screened on 22-23 and 24 August 2020. The finalists will be screened from 25 to 29 August in the square
Portosalvo and live on 105 TV;

c) The trophy will be awarded to the overall winner, that is, the short film chosen as the winner among all those who will arrive at the final 4 evenings, regardless of
categories;

d) The travel and living expenses of the authors of the short films or those who want to attend the festival evenings are borne by the participants who can however, take advantage of special conventions and facilities that will be communicated in time;

8. General Standards


(a) Requests for admission to the Festival imply acceptance of this regulation;

b) It is the responsibility of directors, producers, distributors or other persons presenting the short, ensuring that they are legitimately entitled to register the film at the VFF&F. c) The Festival Directorate will have the right to final decision on everything not specified in this regulation and reserves the right to make any changes or integration to this regulation it deems necessary.


APPENDIX A


Rotary-End Polio Now Special Award

a) The Rotary-End Polio Now Special Award was first established in 2018 at the behest of the Rotary Club sapri- Gulf of Policastro, represented by Pro tempore President Arch. Sergio Felicino.

b) The aim is to disseminate and promote Rotary's actions, events, charitable initiatives, and values through a short film.

c) They will be able to compete for the Special Prize, short films that in any genre (documentaries, fiction, etc.), tell Rotary, its campaigns (such as the "End Polio Now" that for 20 years has aimed at eradicating polio in the world), the various Clubs, events or initiatives organized, and, in turn, its values of solidarity and service or the five actions of Rotary, in particular the III and the IV :

Via Irace - Vibonati (SA) - III: "Public Interest Action encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life of people in the community in which they live and to act for the benefit of the public interest"

- IV: "International Action encompasses actions taken to broaden the scope of Rotary's humanitarian work and to promote understanding and peace among peoples."

d) Short films can participate exclusively for the Special Prize or even shorts entered in the other categories of the competition that fall within the parameters defined for the Special Prize (in that second case, the courts can compete both in the competition for the award of the Special Prize and that for the victory of the overall prize among the shorts) ;

(c) All courts that deal specifically with Rotary or related facts and events will be evaluated by the jury responsible for awarding the Prize. In the event that at the Association Villammare Film Festival- Gulf of The Rotary Club sapri-Golfo of Policastro did not consider, in its unquestionable judgment, to choose one of the courts evaluated, Rotary reserves the right to consider whether or not to award the prize to "generalist" short films that will have dealt with issues similar to the five lines of action of Rotary, in particular the III and iv;

f) The jury that will award the special award "A Short for Rotary-End Polio Now" will be a different jury from the artistic one of the Festival and will be part of the Rotary Club
Sapri-Golfo of Policastro and its president pro tempore or his delegate;

g) The special prize "A short for Rotary-End Polio Now" is a sum of money amounting to 1500 euros. The author and the producer of the short winner of the Special Prize will be obliged to include at the beginning of the short film the word "A short for the Rotary- End Polio now" and in the closing credits the eventual single sponsor.

h) The Rotary Club Sapri- Gulf of Policastro will be delivered a free copy of the winning work in digital format, with subtitles in English if Italian, with subtitles in Italian if English, with subtitles in Italian and English if of different languagemadre, with the permission to be able to spread it on its institutional sites, during meetings or training events, at club level, at the level of the 2100 district of membership, and at international level. Only then will it be cash prize.

(i) The Rotary Club of The Sea of Polysters, through its pro tempore president or a delegate, reserves the right not to award the Special Prize, in its unquestive judgment, if no short film is deemed to be in line with the objectives of the Agreement with the Villammare Film Festival for the award.

l) For all that is not specified in this paragraph and for the submission of the works, the general rules established in this regulation apply.

m) To make the short film compete for the Special Prize, check the box on the registration card. Rotary may decide to include shorts in its selection that have not ticked the appropriate box.

Feature film competition rules 2020

1.Organization and Goals

The Villammare Festival Film&Friends wants to be an opportunity and a point of reference for film professionals, national and international, and an opportunity to contribute to the cultural vibrancy and promotion of the territory to South of Salerno in a supranational context.

The feature film competition was born with the intention of paying attention to valuable films but also to films that are difficult to distribute, to early works, to works by young authors or well-established directors. This is to promote film culture, with its ever-new languages and meanings conveyed, to spread works and talents that are out of the mainstream, to animate the territory through a profitable exchange between the cinema and its audience.


2.Festival Location and Date.


The Villammare Film&Friends Festival, now in its 19th edition, will take place in Villammare (SA) from 22 to 29 August 2020.


3.Admission requirements. Italian and foreign feature films are admitted to the competition:

(a) Works distributed from September 2019 to July 2020.
b) Upcoming preview works.
c) Unse distributed, unpublished works with no time limitation.
d) Works of cultural and documentary interest, environmental, social and socio-anthropological engagement.

English subtitles are required for foreign language films.

Participation is free. Each author can submit one or more works to the competition.

The films must not have already been selected or awarded at the previous editions of the Villammare Festival.

The essential requirement for participation in the competition is the authorisation to process personal data under Legislative Decree 196 of 30 June 2003.

4. Awards awarded

During the current edition, the following awards will be awarded:

a) Best Film

b) Best Director

c) Best First Opera

d) Best Actor and Best Actress

(c) In view of the attention that the Villammare Festival has always given to the world of soundtracks, special awards will be awarded related to the musical aspect of the films;

f) The Villammare Festival Film&Friends has established the "Giorgio Arlorio" Special Award, dedicated to the late screenwriter, great friend of the VFF&F. It will be awarded to the best screenplay of the films in competition.

In addition, there may be additional prizes or special mentions, decreed by the Festival jury or the technical organization of the Festival.

5. How works are sent

To be admitted to the competition you need to fill out the membership card in all its parts and send it, along with the copy of the feature film, the synopsis, the director's card, the technical data of the film and any other advertising material you want to add (photos, posters, etc.), to:Villammare Festival c/o 105 TV, Loc. lunghi@villammarefilmfestival.it with the link to download and view the movie (also vimeo with password). All the works received will be kept in the Association's archive and not
will be returned. The Association Villammare Film Festival – Gulf of Policastro does not take any responsibility, if the films are lost or arrive damaged, not being able to be admitted to the competition. Please make sure
DVD or receiving the mail for the transmission of the film.

The person who subscribes to the participation sheet, by entering the film in the competition, assumes the responsibility of being the legitimate representative authorized by all those entitled to the work.

It is welcome but not mandatory, sending trailers, any backstages or short movies with comments or presentations of the work. They will be used in specials prior to the Festival broadcast on 105 TV (private local broadcaster), with the
in order to present the best work received and in the competition or at any rate for the promotion of the Festival and the selected works.

The deadline for the presentation of feature films is 08 July 2020.


6. Selection of works and subsequent steps


The selection of the works will be due to the organization's unappellable judgment.

Competitors will be notified of the outcome of the same but, due to the high number of participants, only the authors of the selected works will be notified. Anyone wishing to hear about your film can contact 0973/365848 or consult the

7. General Standards
