The Villammare Festival Film & Friends is organized by the Villammare Film Festival-Golfo di Policastro Association. The competition between short films was the beginning and is still the backbone of the Villammare Festival. The attention to the short genre wants to be an opportunity to give space to experimental cinema, to young talents, and to the evolution of cinematographic languages. The Villammare Festival Film & Friends wants to be an opportunity for international filmmakers and an occasion to contribute to the cultural liveliness and the promotion of the territory south of Salerno in a wider context.
It includes a competition between short films, one between feature films, meetings with personalities from the world of culture and cinema, attention to soundtracks and environmental themes, debates, in-depth analysis, shows and tasting moments after watching the film.
Awards for short films:
- Best short film (Prize money);
- Special Award “A short for the Rotary- End Polio Now” (1000 Eu);
- Special Award “Bcc Montepruno” (2000 eu);
- Special Award “Pietro De Luca” (1000 eu);
- "Green Short film -Ecological and Environmental Themes" (Trophy).
Maximum attention is required when evaluating the relevance of your short film to the chosen category. Please, read the regulations!
Short films in the original foreign language must already have Italian subtitles printed on the film.

Short Film Contest – Regulation 2024
1. Objectives
Villammare Festival Film&Friends is organized by Villammare Film Festival- Gulf of Policastro Association. The short film contest has been the beginning and the backbone of the Festival.
Attention to short films is an opportunity to give space to experimental cinema, young talents, and to the evolution of film language. Villammare Festival wants to be an opportunity for filmmakers, both Italian and foreign, and an occasion to contribute to the cultural liveliness and promotion of the territory in the South of Salerno in an international context, promoting exchanges between European countries and spreading international cinematography with the aim of educating the public to a wider film culture.
2. Place and date
Villammare Festival Film&Friends, arrived at its XXIII edition, will take place in Villammare (SA) from 22 to 29 August 2024.
3. Admission Requirements
a) For the 2024 Edition two are the sections provided (for specifications carefully read art. 4):
- Category "Free Theme" (Prize money);
- Category Special Award “A short for the Rotary- End Polio Now” (1000 Eu);
- Category Special Award “Bcc Montepruno” (2000 eu);
- Category Special Award “Pietro De Luca” (1000 eu);
- Category "Green Short film -Ecological and Environmental Themes" (Trophy).
b) For all the categories are admitted fiction, animation and any other kind of short film;
c) Short films of all the sections must not have a duration higher than 15 minutes;
d) To participate in the selections, a payment of 10 euros is required for each short film entered, with the methods specified below.
e) Each author can submit to the competition even more than one work and can participate in all the categories;
f) However, only the short films deemed deserving will be admitted to the competition, at the unquestionable judgment of the organization;
g) The author who has entered a short film in one category could see the work transferred to another if it is not considered in line with the characteristics and themes of the originally chosen section. Maximum attention is therefore required when evaluating the relevance of your short film to the chosen category;
h) The partners of the Villammare Festival who award the various special prizes, in the event that no short films considered relevant to the themes and characteristics of their category are received, reserve the right to evaluate whether or not to award the prize to other short films, entered in the competition, that will have dealt with similar topics;
i) Unpublished works are preferred. However, will be also accepted works already presented and awarded to other competitions, but not to previous editions of Villammare Festival;
l) Short films in the original foreign language must already have Italian subtitles printed on the film;
m) Being a competition originally born on TV, preference will be given to short films that can be broadcast on the television partner 105 TV at least in the days from 25 to 29 August, as per the release which will then be sent to the selected candidates;
n) An indispensable requirement for participation in the competition is the authorization to process personal data in accordance with current legislation.
The Villammare Film Festival-Gulf of Policastro Association undertakes to treat the data in a lawful and fair manner for the sole purpose of the competition (informing the outcome of the selections, allowing the award of prizes, notifying news, deadlines and announcements of the forthcoming competitions, etc.). At any time after the conclusion of the XXIII edition of the Villammare Festival, participants may request, in writing, to delete their data from the Association's archive.
4. Awards assigned
4.1 Award for the best short film
a) For the 2024 edition, to the absolute winner of the short film competition, selected among all those participating in the various categories at the unquestionable judgment of the Festival's artistic jury, will be assigned a trophy and a cash prize, the value of which will be communicated later;
b) The winner will commit himself to affix the VFF&F degree to his work.
4.2. "A Short for Rotary - End Polio Now" Special Award
a) The Special Award "A short for Rotary - End Polio Now", was set up for the first time in the 2018 edition with the aim of disseminating and promoting, through a short film, the actions, events, charitable initiatives, spirit and values of Rotary and is currently awarded by the Rotary E-Club Film&Friends;
b)They will be able to compete for the Special Award, short films that in any genre (documentaries, fiction, etc.), tell the Rotary Clubs, their campaigns (such as the "End Polio Now" that for 20 years aims at the eradication of polio in the world), their events or organized initiatives, and, in the alternative, their social values of solidarity and service or the five Rotary Actions, in particular the III and IV:
• III: "The Action of Public Interest encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life of the people in the community in which he lives and to act for the benefit of the public interest";
• - IV: "International Action encompasses the actions taken to expand the purpose of Rotary's humanitarian activities and to promote understanding and peace among peoples"
c) The jury that will award the special prize "A short for the Rotary- End Polio Now" will be a jury different from the artistic one of the Festival, and will be headed by the Rotary E-Club Film&Friends D2101 and its pro tempore president or a delegate;
d) The special award “A short film for Rotary - End Polio Now” consists of a sum of money amounting to 1000 euros. The author and the producer of the short winner of the Special Award will be obliged to include at the beginning of the short film the words "A Short for the Rotary- End Polio now" and in the end credits the possible single sponsor;
e) At the Rotary E-Club Film&Friends D2101 will be delivered a free copy of the winning work in digital format, with subtitles in english if Italian, with subtitles in Italian if english, with subtitles in Italian and english if in different languages and with the authorization to disseminate it on its institutional sites, during meetings or training events, at the club level, at the 2101 District level, and at international level. Only later, the cash prize will be paid;
f)The Rotary E-Club Film&Friends D2101, through its pro tempore president or his delegate, reserves the right not to award the Special Award, at its sole discretion, if no short film is considered in line with the goals set at the basis of the agreement with the Villammare Festival, or to assign it to another short film, not registered in the category, but considered more relevant;
g) For all that is not specified in this paragraph and for the sending of the works, are valid the rules established in this regulation apply;
h)To make the short film compete for the Special Award, tick the appropriate box on the entry form. Rotary may decide to include in its selection also shorts that have not ticked the appropriate box. Please carefully check the relevance of your short film to the themes requested by Rotary before registering it for the specific selection.
4.3. Special Award “Bcc Montepruno”
a) The Special Award promoted by Bcc Montepruno di Fisciano, Roscigno and Laurino, partner of the Villammare Festival, is aimed at short films of any genre, lasting a maximum of 15 minutes, shot in the Bank's reference area (Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni , in the province of Salerno);
b) The objective of the Award is to enhance the reference places of Montepruno through the cinematographic medium and the stories told, that must be set and filmed in them;
c) The prize, assigned by the credit institution, amounts to 2000 euros;
d) The jury that will award the Bcc Montepruno Special Award will be a different jury from the artistic one of the Festival and will be headed by the Credit Institute;
e) The author and the producer of the short film winning the Special Award undertake to insert the name of the Prize at the beginning of the short film and to deliver to the Credit Institute a free copy of the work in digital format, with the authorization to disseminate it during meetings or events organized by the same;
f) Bcc Montepruno reserves the right not to award the Special Award, at its sole discretion, if no short film shot in the Bank's reference area is received.
g) For all that is not specified in this paragraph and for the sending of the works, are valid the rules established in this regulation apply;
h)To make the short film compete for the Special Award, tick the appropriate box on the entry form.
4.4 Special Award Fondazione “Pietro De Luca”
a) The “Pietro De Luca” Special Award, announced by the Foundation of the same name, aims to promote Love in all its forms in memory of the late Pietro who loved very much during his life and was loved very much by those who knew him;
b) It is aimed at short films of any genre, wherever shot, of a maximum duration of 15 minutes, which will be able to tell gestures and stories of love: Love for people, for nature, for animals, Love for Cilento, towards which Pietro's attentions were concentrated, Love towards God...
c) The jury that will award the “Pietro De Luca” Special Award will be a different jury from the artistic one of the Festival and will be headed by
the Pietro De Luca Foundation;
d) The Pietro De Luca Special Award amounts to 1000 euros;
e) The author and the producer of the short film winning the Special Award undertake to insert the name of the Prize at the beginning of the short film and to deliver a free copy of the work in digital format to the Pietro De Luca Foundation, with the authorization to be able to disseminate it during meetings or events organized by it;
f) The Pietro De Luca Foundation reserves the right not to award the Special Prize, at its sole discretion, if no short film is deemed to be in line with the objectives underlying the agreement with the Villammare Festival for the awarding of the prize, or to assign it to another short film, not registered in the category, which will be considered relevant to the Award;
g) For all that is not specified in this paragraph and for the sending of the works, are valid the rules established in this regulation apply;
h)To make the short film compete for the Special Award, tick the appropriate box on the entry form.
4.5 Best Green Short Film Award for the category "Ecological and environmental issues"
a) Short films entered in the "Ecological and environmental themes" category compete for the Best Green Short Film Award, established in consideration of the Festival's commitment to environmental protection; of the importance of these issues today; of the intentions of promoting the territory, set by the Festival, and of the location of the event: an area of high environmental value in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park;
b) The overall winner of the category will be awarded a Trophy in collaboration with Legambiente;
g) For all that is not specified in this paragraph and for the sending of the works, are valid the rules established in this regulation apply;
h)To make the short film compete for the Special Award, tick the appropriate box on the entry form.
5. How to send the works
a) The short films can be sent as a downloadable link to corti@villammarefilmfestival.it after payment of the 10 euro registration fee via the appropriate link on the website www.villammarefilmfestival.it or via bank transfer made out to the Villammare Film Festival- Golfo di Policastro Association with reason for "registration for “title of the short film” at Villammare Festival Film&Friends" Iban IT96 D087 8469 3000 1000 00 ;
b) You can also nominate your short films using platform Festhome. In these cases, the organization does not assume responsibility for the relationship between the author of the short and the platform, which follows its own rules, independent of the Festival and indicated in the contract that the filmmaker independently signs with the platform;
c) The deadline for the submission of short films is June 29, 2024;
d)All the works received will be kept in the Association's archives and will not be returned.
e)The Villammare Film Festival – Golfo di Policastro Association assumes no responsibility if the videos arrive lost or damaged, and cannot be admitted to the competition.
f)The person who subscribes the entry form, so subscribing the film to the competition, assumes responsibility for being the legitimate representative, authorized by all those entitled to the work.
6. Admission to the competition
a) To be admitted to the competition it is necessary to pay a registration fee of 10 euros on the festival website or on authorized platforms, fill in the registration form in all its parts and send it,with a copy of the short film, a synopsis, author's details, technical details of the movie and any other advertising material you want to add ( photos, posters, etc.), to corti@villammarefilmfestival.it with the link to download and view the movie ( also vimeo with
passwords);
b) It is pleasing but not mandatory, sending trailers, backstage or short videos with comments or presentations of the film. They will be used during special TV programs about the Festival on air on 105 Tv (regional private television broadcasting in Campania), with the aim of presenting the works received and in competition or in any case for the promotion of the Festival and of the selected films;
c) Since this is a Festival originally created for TV, short films whose author allows the broadcast on the television partner 105 TV at least during the days from 25 to 29 August 2024 will be preferred, as per the release which will then be sent to the selected ones.
However, the choice to tick the box relating to the broadcast of the short on the registration form is optional. If the box is not ticked, in case of selection of the short, the author will be contacted by the organization to issue the release to broadcast the short on 105 TV for the week of the Festival only.
7. Selection of works and next steps
a) The Villammare Festival Film&Friends will choose among the short films that will register for the Festival, the short films that will constitute the "official selection" of the Villammare Festival Film&Friends 2024. Among them, to which will be added those chosen for the Special awards, the artistic jury , composed of competent personalities from the world of cinema and entertainment, will choose the winners;
b) The artistic jury prize will be awarded to the overall winner, i.e. the short film chosen as the winner among all those in the competition, without distinction of categories;
c)The travel and subsistence expenses of the authors of short films or of those who wish to attend the Festival's evenings are responsible for the participants who will still be able to take advantage of special conventions and facilities that will be communicated in time;

8. General Rules
a) Applications for admission to the Festival imply acceptance of this regulation;
b) It is the responsibility of producers, distributors or other subjects presenting the short film, to ensure they are legitimately authorized to enter the film at VFF;
c) The Festival's organization will have the right to make a final decision on anything not specified in this regulation and reserves the right to make any changes or additions to this regulation, as it may require
Feature Films Contest- Regulation 2024
1. Objectives
Villammare Festival Film&Friends, which is organized by Villammare Film Festival- Gulf of Policastro Association, wants to be an opportunity for movie’s professionals and an occasion to contribute to the cultural liveliness and promotion of the territory in the South of Salerno in an supranational context.
This competition of feature films was created with the intention of giving attention to
valuable films, but also to movies that are difficult to distribute, to early works, to
films by young authors or affirmed directors. This is to promote an European cinema’s culture, with its ever-new languages and conveyed meanings, to spread works and talents, also that are out of the mainstream, to animate the territory through a profitable exchange between cinema and its audience.
2. Place and date
Villammare Festival Film&Friends, arrived at its XXIII edition, will take place in Villammare (SA) from 22 to 29 August 2024.
3. Admission Requirements
Are allowed to the contest, Italian and foreign films:
a) Works distributed from August 2023 to July 2024;
b) Movies in preview and upcoming distribution works;
c) Unpublished works, without a time limit;
d) Works of cultural and documentary interest, of social commitment and socio-
anthropological films, environmental films.
For films in foreign language are required Italian subtitles.
Participation is free. Each author may submit one or more works to the competition.
The films should not have been selected or rewarded at the previous editions of the
Villammare Festival.
An indispensable requirement for participation in the competition is the authorization

The Villammare Film Festival-Gulf of Policastro Association undertakes to treat the

e) In consideration of the attention that the Villammare Festival has always attributed to the world of soundtracks, special prizes will be awarded relating to the musical aspect of the films;
f) Since 2019, the Villammare Festival Film & Friends has established the "Giorgio Arlorio" Special Award, dedicated to the late screenwriter, a great friend of the VFF & F. It will be assigned to the best screenplay of the films in competition.
g) Rotary E-Club Film&Friends will award the film that best embodies the values of this international organization that carries out service projects for humanitarian and philanthropic purposes, films with social themes, which represent the values of solidarity and service or the five Rotary Actions, in particular III and IV:
- III: "Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life of people in the community in which they live and to act for the benefit of the public interest";
- IV: “Service International encompasses actions taken to broaden the Rotary's humanitarian activities and to promote understanding and peace among peoples.”
Films not in line with the aforementioned themes and with Rotary's actions will not be considered for the Special Award.
In addition, there may be further awards or special mentions made by the Festival's jury or by the technical organization of the Festival.
5. How to send the works
To be admitted to the competition, you must complete the entry form in all parts and
send it, with a copy of the feature film, a synopsis, author's details, technical details
of the movie and any other advertising material you want to add ( photos, posters,
etc.), by mail to lunghi@villammarefilmfestival.it with the link to download and view the movie .
You can also nominate your films using platform Festhome. In these cases, the organization does not assume responsibility for the relationship between the author of the films and the platform, which follows its own rules, independent of the Festival and indicated in the contract that the filmmaker independently signs with the platform.
All the works received will be kept in the Association's archives and will not be
returned.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
