Violeta Film Fest (VFF) is an international film festival "For the reduction of gaps, inclusion, diversity and sorority", aims to make visible women, men, LGBTIQ+ people who generate film productions and organizations that in their programs develop actions for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and document these actions with film productions. Films that lead to the transformation of society from 4 categories: Cinema Made by Women, Cinema made by Men for Women & Elles, Cinema Made by Elles, Cinema made by organizations in action for equity, diversity and inclusion.

Violeta Film Fest Awards - Violeta Film Fest Awards - will be given to filmmakers who are generating cinematographic developments in favor of the reduction of gaps.

2ND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL VIOLETA FILM FEST - VFF
August 8th to 11th , 2024

DESCRIPTION

The international film festival Violeta Film Fest (VFF) is a festival "For the reduction of gaps, diversity, inclusion and sorority".

The festival will have screenings in the city of Bogotá (Colombia) at the Cinemateca de Bogotá - one of the best movie theaters in Colombia - as well as in the cities of Medellín and Cartagena. Those films that are selected and authorized by the filmmakers will be available on the streaming platform of Mujeres Violeta during the days of the film festival.

The Festival has 4 categories:
- Films made by Women
- Films made by Men for Women and Elles
- Films made by Elles
- Films made by organizations documenting their actions in favor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Seeking that the narratives reflect: Actions to be taken by society for transformation around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The festival welcomes short films in any language as long as they have subtitles in Spanish and English.

For the exhibition of short films at the Cinemateca de Bogotá, 60% must be Colombian productions and 40% from other countries. There is no restriction for other screenings.

By registering and being selected, you agree to send the authorization of use and reproduction, publicity materials and the exhibition copy of the films in the formats and times indicated.

Films selected for theatrical screening must be in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. Films selected to be shown on the Mujeres Violeta streaming platform may have Spanish.

It is necessary to inform the projects participating in this call that their application does not imply acceptance until they are selected by the Festival's Curatorial Committee.

Once selected, all filmmakers will have access to screenings, academic activities, promotion on the festival's social networks, being on the Mujeres Violeta streaming platform and all the advantages of being hosted by the festival.

Four OFFICIAL Categories:

1. MADE BY WOMEN
Documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental short films of all nationalities whose contents have been developed from female leadership with a view to diversity, equity and/or inclusion: directed by women and/or written by women.

2.MADE BY MEN FOR WOMEN AND ELLES
Documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental short films of all nationalities whose contents have been developed from a male perspective and leadership (creative development and production) and that include women and/or LGBTIQ+ people and are focused on issues of female empowerment, closing gaps, diversity, inclusion and equity. directed by men and/or written by men.

3. MADE BY ELLE
Documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental short films of all nationalities whose content reflects diversity and inclusion narratives and are directed and/or written by LGBTIQ+ people.

4. EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ORGANIZATIONS IN ACTION
Documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental short films of all nationalities whose contents reflect the actions taken by the organizations around diversity, equity and inclusion and document it through an audiovisual medium.

RULES and LEGALITIES

A call for entries is a Contract by Association and whoever registers a film in any of the sections proposed by Violeta Film Fest in this platform, subscribes to this contract under the terms published here.

It is left for granted, that the contract is law for the parties, in accordance with Article 1602 and S.S. of the Colombian Civil Code, so by registering your film you are bound to the conditions set forth in this call and in those provided by the regulatory regulations of the film activity Law 397 of 1997, Law 814 of 2003, Decree 1080 of 2015 and Resolution 1021 of 2016.


GENERAL CONDITIONS

All sections without exception shall be subject to the following general rules:

Comply with the condition of being short films between 7 to 29 minutes long. They must be of fiction, documentary, animation and experimental genres, in accordance with the requirements of the call for entries.

Submit to all decisions made by the Curatorial Committee, whether to include fiction, documentary, animation and experimental short films in the category in which the committee wishes to place them, taking into account the power of the Curatorial Committee to redefine the category in which they must participate.

All audiovisual pieces must have a projection copy in one of the following formats: DCP, Apple ProRes, H264 Full HD 1920 x 1080 or higher.

Only audiovisual pieces produced and/or premiered worldwide in the years 2023 and 2024 will be considered.

Productions spoken in a language other than Spanish must be subtitled in Spanish.

All productions must register through Festhome (www.festhome.com).

Once the call for entries is closed, the Curatorial Committee will be free to invite productions to be part of the festival's categories and special programs, even if they have not been entered through the Festhome platform.
