Any distinction is attributed to the corresponding factor of the film. Naoussa International Film Festival reserves the right to change the award categories at any time and without any previous notification.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE 11th NAOUSSA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Article 1
The Naoussa International Film Festival (hereinafter “Festival”) is held in Naoussa every year and is organized by the Civil - not for profit - Company entitled “Naoussa International Film Festival”. The Festival adopts the digital technology, thus giving the young creators from all over the world the chance to promote their work in a high-level competitive festival. Today we are the biggest digital film festival in the Southeast Europe and the only Festival with state-of-the-art digital cinema equipment with stereoscopic 3D capabilities. The 12th edition will take place the period from 23rd to 27th September 2015.
Article 2
Participation in the Festival:
Each director has the right to participate with more than one film.
The film must belong to one of the categories below:
-fiction
-experimental (video art, etc.)
-animation
-fiction / animation 3D (fiction or animation movies presented in stereoscopic 3D)
The subject of the films depends on the judgment and the inspiration of the creators. Also, there are no restrictions as to the shooting of the film.
For the process of selection the films must be sent in one of the following ways:
a) Via the post office in a DVD (PAL).
c) Via the platform Festhome https://festhome.com/. The participation expenses via Festhome is for the creators.
In case your film is selected – as long as it belongs to the category of fiction- you should send us a projection copy either in hard disk or data Blu-Ray or data DVD or USB flash memory stick or HDCAM or through internet transfer or any other possible way in one of the following files:
1) DCP unencrypted + DVD guide-screener (συστήνεται)
2) Q.T. Apple Pro Res progressive (1920X1080, 1998X1080 flat, 2048X858 scope) (συστήνεται)
3) Q.T. Apple Pro Res 1920 x 1080 25fps
4) Q.T. uncompressed 1920 x 1080 24fps
5) Mpeg4 HD 1920 x 1080 24fps or 25fps
6) HDCAM (not SR)
- Please take into consideration that because DCP’s frame rate is 24fps, any other frame rate may present a small loss in the quality of the DCP.
In case your film is selected – as long as it belongs to the category of animation or the experimental- you should send us a projection copy either in an external hard disk, or data blu-ray or data DVD or USB flash memory stick or HDCAM or through internet transfer or any other possible way in one of the following files:
1) Q.T. Apple Pro Res 1920 x 1080 25fps (highly recommended)
2) Mpeg4 HD 1920 x 1080
3) Mpeg2 HD 1920 x 1080
4) HDCAM (not SR)
The film must have been completed 18 months maximum before the date of the Festival. For the 12th edition (2015) eligible films are those completed from January 2014 and afterwards.
The total duration of the films in the categories of fiction and animation cannot exceed twenty five (25’) minutes.
Especially for the films belonging to the Experimental category the total duration cannot exceed the ten (10’) minutes.
Films must be subtitled in English, (except those films whose dialogues are in the English language).
Article 3
The selection of the projected films, their order of projection, and the program are defined by the Organizing Committee of the Festival, which, according to the technical peculiarities, the duration and the grouping of the films in categories, organizes the whole program with its own responsibility.
Article 4
In order to participate in the Festival one should fill in the application form that he or she may find in the website of the Festival (http://www.niff.gr) or fill in the application form via the platform "festhome". It is highlighted that the participant has to read the terms of participation which can also be found in the website of the Festival. After the applicant fills in the electronic application and marks the field that mentions that he / she has become fully aware of the terms of participation and has accepted them, he then can submit it. The electronic application will be stored in the electronic system of the Festival and will be used in the selection process. The applicants will be sent an email which will confirm that their application has been submitted. It is very important that all the fields should be filled and without any mistakes because the data of the application will be used for the catalogue of the festival and all the electronic means – in case of film selection.
The application data will be used exclusively for the selection process and in no case will they be given to a third person.Note that it is necessary to fill in all the fields of the participation form in order for it to be examined.
Article 5
The film must be sent to the Festival for the selection process until the 15th April 2015 - no matter of the sending method the applicant has selected.
More precisely, if the applicant chooses to send his film through mail or courier service the postage should have been done by the 22nd April 2015 (postmark or courier voucher) to the address below:

With the indication: “No commercial value, only for cultural reasons”.
In case the creator chooses to send the film via the platform Festhome https://festhome.com/ that must have been done by the 22nd April 2015. The dispatch of the participation form entails the complete and unconditional acceptance of the above terms of participation.
Along with the film one must send:
- Stills from the film in 300dpi resolution (in electronic form*)
- Photos of the creator and the leading actors in 300dpi resolution (in electronic form*)
Optionally you can send:
- The trailer
- Promotional material
*For postage via the post office please include a CD with the material needed. In case you choose to send the material either via an e-mail topublications@niff.gr or via a free file transfer service (indicativehttp://wetransfer.com), you should mention the reference code, the English title of the film and the name of the director.
The mailing expenses of the post office or the courier service burden the creators. Since the participation form and the film have been deposited, for no reason does the director or the producer have the right to withdraw them.
Article 6
In case your film is selected – as long as it belongs to the category of fiction- in order to ensure a high quality projection standard you must send us a projection copy either in hard disk or data Blu-Ray or data DVD or USB flash memory stick or HDCAM or through internet transfer or any other possible way in one of the following files:

The material which will be sent to the Festival concerning the projection of the film will be returned to the applicant after the completion of the Festival on Festival’s expenses (valid for hard disk, USB Flash Drive, HDCAM).
Article 7
The Organising Committee of the Festival in collaboration with the artistic Director make the selection of the judging committees. The judging committees are consisted of recognized personalities from the Greek and the international world of cinema. The Director of the Festival has the right to participate in one or all the judging committees. The decisions of the committees are made in plain majority.
Finally, in the frames of the innovations of the Festival there is the creation of a judging committee which consists of young people of Naoussa who give the “Naoussa” award.
Article 8

Any distinction is attributed to the corresponding factor of the film. Naoussa International Film Festival reserves the right to change the award categories at any time and without any previous notification. In case a film is awarded in the Festival, Naoussa International Film Festival wishes that the type and the year of distinction would be inscribed above the titles of beginning.
Article 9
Any public projections of the participating films in the Prefecture of Imathia before their official projection in the Festival are forbidden.
Article 10
The Festival is not responsible for any loss of material before or after the Festival and under no circumstances is it obliged to return the material that has been sent to it for the selection process. The material which will be sent to the Festival concerning the projection of the film will be returned to the applicant after the completion of the festival. In this case the mailing expenses burden the Festival.
Article 11
The Festival reserves the right to project part of the films that have been sent, in and out of the area of the Festival, whenever it is needed for reasons of promotion of the Festival and under no circumstances for commercial causes.
Article 12
The use of any recording device, without the permission of the organising company in the projection rooms is strictly forbidden.
Article 13
Parts of the Festival will be filmed. Participants that may appear in these parts cannot claim anything from the organizing company.
Article 14
The participants accept and agree to give interviews to the communication sponsors and to be photographed if asked.
Article 15
The organizing company reserves the right to cancel the Festival if it is necessary.
Article 16
In case of dispute, the Greek version of the terms of participation is considered as valid.
Article 17
The electronic submission of the participation form or the participation via the platform Festhome entails the complete and unconditional acceptance of the above terms of participation.
