LYNX Lesbian Short Film Fest - 2025 ()

Welcome to the 1st LYNX Lesbian Short Films Fest, we are now accepting submissions.

10 films will be selected to be showcase during the LYNX Lesbian Shorts Film Fest August 9, 2025 at the Frida Kahlo Theater in East LA. Presented films will reflect our immense and diverse lesbian community.

The deadline to submit is July 19.
Winners will be announced Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
There is a $10 fee for submitting each film.

What judges will be looking for: At least one main character is a BIPOC cis, trans, or non-binary lesbian.

Clichés to avoid (Inspired by the Curve Test): (1) Stories primarily about coming out. (2) Characters reduced to stereotypes. (3) Lack of BIPOC cis, trans, or non-binary lesbian cast AND crew members.

Filmmakers do not have to be lesbian-identified, but the films should represent lesbian stories.

One filmmaker can submit up to 5 films, 15-minutes less total runtime including credits; minimum 1-minute.

We will have an audience favorite award, determined by balloting. The jury may also create additional awards for any films deserving of highlighted recognition.

LYNX events are intent on building sustainable and mutually empowering lesbian relationships: platonic, romantic, professional, and/or otherwise centered BIPOC cis, trans, and non-binary lesbian empowerment.

The LYNX community recognizes the unique societal oppressions experienced by those facing the intersection of homophobia, misogyny, gender bias, income inequality, and racial injustice. LYNX aims to help our community to thrive in spite of these and other systematic obstacles.

Your art and support is very much appreciated in making sure our community stays visible, joyful, and resilient!

Audience Choice.

Films should be 15 minutes or less, and must include BIPOC lesbian content.

The deadline for film submissions June 19, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

Do not register until your film is complete.

Film quality should be high definition. File sizes should not exceed 8 GB.

Acceptable film file formats: .avi, .mov, or .mp4

Acceptable image (poster art) formats: .pdf, .jpg, or .png.

Selected films may be asked to submit a trailer after official selections have been announced.

By submitting your film, you give LYNX permission to show your film at the LYNX Lesbian Short Film Festival, use credited video, audio, and still images from your film during the promotion of your film in relation to the festival, for digital and printed media.
