The FICINDIE Festival is based on publicizing the importance and relevance of independent and auteur cinema worldwide, and the importance and need to have the Canary Islands, and specifically the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, as a World Heritage Site and the Canary Islands as an relevant place to make independent Cinema, as a natural and ideal setting for this type of story, due to its characteristics and aesthetics, as well as the variety of professionals from the independent audiovisual sector who reside here. This Festival is made up of artists, producers and professionals from indie cinema, to give it value and show its importance.

1) Independent Feature Film or international author, understanding by feature film a film that has at least 60 minutes. This award includes a cash prize and a physical award.
2) Independent short film or international author. Its duration will be a maximum of 30 minutes. This award includes a cash prize and a physical award.
3) Independent or Canarian author film, understanding by film a film that has duration of between 1 minute and 180 minutes. Only people born in the Canary Islands or whose residence is over two years of age (DNI and residence certificate will be requested to prove this purpose) may apply for this category. This award includes a cash prize and a physical award.
4) Music Library and SFX Section – Special Mention. It will reward the feature film with the greatest future international projection of its director/producer, endowing it with a flat rate limited to one production + promotional content (teaser, trailer) with access to the production music catalogues.
The awards may not be granted “ex aequo”.

1. Registration must be formalized by completing the registration form
2. Regardless of its name, FICINDIE is open to any film with an independent and auteur theme.
3. The production of the works must be after January 1, 2024.
4. Each participant may only submit a maximum of 2 films per category.
5. To participate in the selection, you must, once the “online” registration has been made, send a secure viewing link (on vimeo or youtube with a password, or google drive) Along with the film, it is mandatory to attach the following documents:
- Movie Poster
- Two Stills/frames of the film (minimum resolution of 300 dpi).
- A photograph of the person responsible for management.
- Biofilmography of the person responsible for directing.
- A photograph of the person responsible for the production.
- Biofilmography of the person or company responsible for the production.
- Synopsis and Treatment of the film.
- Complete technical sheet.
- Official trailer.
- Press kit
The production company/person cannot be a multinational, or have support capital from large platforms or production companies worldwide.
6. FICINDIE requires the HD video file or professional video (4K), or DCP, as projection formats. The selected films must present a screening copy with subtitles in Spanish or English (if the audio is in a language other than Spanish). In the Canarian Cinema category, the selected films must present a projection copy with subtitles in Spanish or English (if the audio is in a language other than Spanish). If this condition is not met, they will be rejected.
7. The jury's decision will be final.
8. The awards may not be granted “ex aequo”.
9. The registration period will open on May 1, 2026 and will close on August 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (local time).
10. The films may not have been previously shown on open national television or the internet (except for payment platforms), but rather at other film festivals. Films that have only been shown on regional TV can participate.
11. The selection of films will be carried out by the FICINDIE selection committee, a group of experts in various matters related to the audiovisual sector and its decision is final.
12. Once the selection process is finished, the result will be communicated to all the participants through the festival website:

Selected films will receive an email confirming their selection. Likewise, a professional copy of the film with subtitles in Spanish and the necessary documentation for the payment of the relevant exhibition rights, if applicable, will be requested.
13. The jury will be made up of renowned personalities from the cultural and audiovisual world, and will promote equality in its composition at all times.
14. The members of the jury may not compete as author, director or producer.
15. The production companies of the winning films must use the FICINDIE logo in their advertising.
16. FICINDIE screenings will be free and non-profit, in exceptional cases collaboration with NGOs, so that the possible collection reaches them directly.
17. Once the works have been selected to participate in the FICINDIE Official Contest Section, a digital projection file of no more than 10 gigabytes must be sent to the festival organization via wetransfer or similar, including a trailer of the work with a maximum duration of 1 minute and subtitles in Spanish, a minimum of 10 days before the start date of the festival, which will be held from October 2 to 31th, 2026 in the Canary Islands. We do not accept deliveries of screening copies by post.
18. The authors of the works authorize the use of a fragment of them (maximum five minutes in length), for dissemination in any information medium. FICINDIE may use photographs of the works for advertising in the press, information brochures, posters or other means of communication. As well as songs contained in audiovisual works.
19. Once a film has been registered, it cannot be withdrawn before its screening at FICINDIE. The winning film will be screened once in the non-capital islands, in a non-profit informative pass, days after its screening in Tenerife, with the aim of disseminating this type of cinema in islands that lack cinemas.
20. Registration in FICINDIE implies full acceptance of these rules. The interpretation of the same will be the responsibility of the organization of the festival. In case of controversy, it will be submitted to Spanish legislation and jurisdiction.



  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
