International Short Film Festival on Intangible Cultural Heritage


General Information

INMATERIALIA FILM FEST – Provincia de Burgos is an international short film festival organized by the Diputación Provincial de Burgos (Spain), dedicated to the promotion, dissemination and preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage through cinema.

The festival welcomes audiovisual works that portray living traditions, oral expressions, rituals, celebrations, traditional knowledge, craftsmanship, gastronomy and other forms of intangible cultural heritage from around the world.

Cash Prizes: 6,500€

Awards (Total: €6,500)

Best Short Film: €3,000 + trophy

Second Prize: €1,500

Third Prize: €500

Local Theme Award: €1,500 + trophy

Audience Award: trophy

Special Jury Mentions

Eligibility

Open to filmmakers, collectives, cultural associations, students and audiovisual professionals of any nationality.

Participation is free of charge.

Maximum two films per participant.



Accepted Works

Short films of fiction, documentary, animation, experimental or hybrid genres.

Mandatory theme: Intangible Cultural Heritage.

At least 60% of the content must be directly related to this theme.

Maximum duration: 30 minutes (credits included).

Films must have been completed from January 1st, 2020 onwards.

Films must be submitted by the rights holder or an authorized representative.

Screening format: horizontal.

Accepted preview formats: .mp4, .mov, .mxf or similar.



Language & subtitles

Films in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles.

Selected films may be requested to provide english subtitles (.srt) for international screenings.


Selection & Screening

Films will be selected by a pre-selection committee.

Awards will be decided by an international jury specialized in cinema and cultural heritage.

Selected films may be screened during the festival and in non-commercial cultural activities related to the event.



Rights

By submitting a film, participants confirm that they hold all necessary rights.

Selected filmmakers authorize the festival to screen their films and to use excerpts (up to 30 seconds) for promotional purposes related to the festival.
