Festival start: 05 December 2026      Festival end: 05 December 2026

Curto Criativo, the award for short film screenplays, is a Brazil-based competition open to screenwriters worldwide, from beginners to experienced professionals. We evaluate the story, not the production, so your script is welcome whether the short film has been shot or not. Our jury, composed of experienced screenwriters and filmmakers, is looking to discover new voices in the industry.

We accept short film scripts across seven genres: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Experimental, Fantasy/Science Fiction, Children's/Youth Live Action, and Suspense/Horror. Screenwriters worldwide can also enter the Best International Screenplay category, with scripts accepted in English or Spanish.

Winners are announced at an in-person awards ceremony at the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS-SP), in São Paulo.

The International Screenplay winner receives an individual one hour session with an international screenplay professional and a spot in a talent bank for screenwriters. The awards ceremony is held in person at the Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS-SP) in São Paulo, in December 5.

Open to Brazilians and foreigners aged 18 and over. Only original screenplays are accepted (adaptations only if written by the same author). Short film scripts must be 2 to 20 pages, in standard Master Scenes format, submitted as PDF. The cover page must show the title only, no author or contact details, for blind judging.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
