JUNIORFEST is the second largest film festival for children and young audiences in the Czech Republic.. It is be held in six cities of the Pilsen Region including the regional metropolis of Pilsen with its 170 thousand inhabitants, a city voted European Capital of Culture 2015. JUNIORFEST offers not only a variety of competition and non-competition features but also many non-traditional supporting events that have won favour of our children visitors. The festival is annually visited by over 20,000 visitors. The audience as well as the film professionals especially appreciate the relaxed, friendly and creative atmosphere. The Pilsen Region Award – audience award for the most successful feature film in children category (5-11 years of age)

The Festival Cities Award - audience award for the most successful feature film in Young People category (12-16 years of age)

The General Partner Award – audience award for the most animated feature film in children category (5-12 years of age)

Prize awarded by the citizens association JUNIORFEST:
Golden Watch Hand - award for lifelong creative contribution to filmmaking for children and youth

FESTIVAL RULES 2024

1. ORGANISER
International Film Festival for Children and Young People JUNIORFEST (hereinafter referred to as "IFF JUNIORFEST") is organised by the registered association:

2. DATE AND PLACE OF THE FESTIVAL
The 17th year of the IFF JUNIORFEST will be held in the cities of Pilsen, Domažlice, Klatovy, Horšovský Týn, Dobřany and Přeštice from 8th to 13th November 2024.

3. FESTIVAL PROGRAMME

a) International Competition of Feature Films for Children – Category 5-11 years of age

b) International Competition of Feature Films for Young People – Category 12-16 years of age

c) International Competition of Animated Feature Films for Children – Category 5-12 years of age

d) Informative section

● Playful Films – collection of quality live-action and animation film productions for children

● Teenage Movies – selection of world production focusing on films for Young People

● New Czech films and television programmes – section dedicated to Czech film productions

● Retrospective – section dedicated to Children and
Young People cinematography of European country

● Series online – selection of world production focusing on series for children and Young People

e) Retrospective presentation of distinguished personalities of the Czech and world cinema

f) Accompanying events for entire family, workshops, specialized seminars.

4. GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR FESTIVAL PARTICIPATION

a) Registration for films in competition section is exclusively open to films which have been released / premiered after January 1, 2023.

b) Final decision about participation of the film in the competition is taken by the programme committee consisting of five members.

c) The film will be accepted in the following formats: DCP, Blu-Ray or DVD (region free/all regions) The festival asked for the backup copy. In special cases, the festival director may grant exceptions and the film can also be screened from a 35 mm print.

d) All films selected for competition are screened in the original sound version with English subtitles. The applicant is obliged to cover the costs for production of subtitles. All films are screened in their original sound version with simultaneous dubbing into Czech language or provided with Czech subtitles.

e) The applicant is obliged to fill in the on-line application form at
https://festhome.com/festival/juniorfest .

f) The applicant is obliged to send a film synopsis, biography and photograph of the director, five photographs from the film in high-quality resolution, trailer or the clip from the film, dialogue sheet in English language and an online screener or
a preview DVD with English subtitles.

g) The deadline for application forms and fulfilment of all conditions is August 31, 2024.

h) The organiser will inform the applicants of their participation at IFF JUNIORFEST no later than September 15, 2024.

5. DELEGATION ACCOMPANYING THE FILM IN COMPETITION
For each film selected for competition, a delegation of a maximum of 3 people is invited for a period of 2 nights. The organiser undertakes to cover the costs for accommodation and food for the members of the delegation. The organiser will not cover the travel costs.

In special cases, the festival director may grant exceptions. In this case the organiser is
entitled to choose the travel company.

6. FESTIVAL JURY AND FESTIVAL PRIZES

International Expert Jury awards the following prizes:

7. CONCLUSION
The organiser of the IFF JUNIORFEST undertakes to present the films within the scope of the festival only. By submitting the application form for competition, the applicant agrees to the use of parts of films in competition as a part of festival promotional material on any radio or TV station or on the internet. Please provide quality materials
that will be used only for promotional, translation and educational purposes.
