Festival start: 17 May 2027      Festival end: 23 May 2027

The 11th edition of 24 Risas por Segundo, International Film and Comedy Festival, will take place from May 17 to 23 in Mexico City, and for that reason, we are calling on Mexican and international filmmakers to submit their comedy films (shorts and features) to be part of our program.

The films in the Official Selection will participate for the Audience Award 24 Risas por Segundo, which will be voted directly in the theaters and consisting of a trophy and gifts from our sponsors (not cash)

• Any Mexican or international filmmaker may participate.

• Films must have been produced between 2026 and 2027.

• The maximum running time for short films is 30 minutes, and the minimum running time for feature films is 60 minutes.

• For viewing purposes, films must be subtitled in Spanish or english if they are not in either of these languages. No exceptions will be made.

• If a film is selected, a screening copy with Spanish subtitles must be provided to the festival. The festival will not be responsible for translating or subtitling selected films into Spanish.

• Films may explore any subject matter but must belong to the COMEDY genre, including any of its variations and subgenres.

• Live action narrative films, animations, documentaries, and hybrid works will be accepted.

• Music videos and advertising spots will not be accepted.

• Submission is free for Mexican productions. Fees for international productions are established by the submission platforms.

• Submissions will only be accepted online through the following platform: Festhome.

• The submission deadline is February 1, 2027.

• Once a film has been submitted, it may not be withdrawn from the festival.

• The festival's programming team will review all submitted films and select those that will make up the Official Selection (Mexican Feature Films, Mexican Short Films, and International Short Films).

• The film selection will be announced on April 6, and selected filmmakers will have until April 18 to deliver their screening copies. Shipping costs will be covered by the participants.

• The only accepted screening formats for feature films are ProRes and DCP. Short films must be submitted in H.264 format (.mp4 or .mov).

• All selected films will receive a digital certificate of participation in the festival.

• Films included in the Official Selection will be eligible for the 24 Risas por Segundo Audience Award, which will be determined through direct audience voting at the screening venues. The award consists of a trophy and gifts from our sponsors (no cash prize).

• No screening fees will be paid under any circumstances.

• The festival's programming team will determine the screening dates, times, and venues for each film during the festival.

• Selected films may also be considered for the festival's national and international touring screenings.

• Any matter not covered by these regulations will be resolved by the festival organizers.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
