Carabantú has a special focus in film as an ethno-educational tool that can help challenge stereotypes. Our team works to implement this through the exhibition of films related to the memory of populations of African origin, from the African continent and the diaspora.
In addition to the exhibition of film productions by African and Afro-descendant artists, the Kunta Kinte International Afro-descendant Community Film Festival (VFICCAKK), created an opportunity to carry out a photography and video-production training process that involved over 120 Afro-descendant children and youth in Medellin. Together, the annual four festivals that have been organized so far have allowed for the training of two hundred Afro-descendant children and youth from Eigth peripheral of the city where there is a significant Afro-descendant presence, including many internally displaced people who have been forced to leave other territories in Colombia. For this reason, we feel energized and motivated to organize the Fiveth Kunta Kinte International Afro-descendant Community Film Festival in 2022.
The Afro-Colombian Corporation CARABANTU invites filmmakers and producers to register their film productions at the 7th International Afro Kunta Kinte Kinte Community Film Festival 2022.
Audiovisual productions made by social organizations, groups, producers, filmmakers and amateur, professional and / or independent audiovisual producers may participate in this version without age or nationality limit.
