Festival start: 18 September 2019      Festival end: 23 September 2019

Under the tagline “film from the other side of the world”, SouthBorder Distribution seeks content from countries outside of the first world and from filmmakers that portray different points of views, representing new and innovative ways of conceiving cinema.

SouthBorder Distribution is a Latin American distribution company based in Santiago de Chile that licenses short films for comercial distribution in different territories and outlets. We are looking for films that come from that part of the world which identifies itself as “south of the border”. It’s an open call for filmmakers from Ibero America, Africa, Asia, Middle East, Oceania, and those the are represented by the same feeling. We don’t exclude based on country of origin, but please keep in mind what we stand for. If you want to show the world in a different way, if you feel connected to our tag line or if, at some level, it makes sense to you than you should send us your film for consideration.

We work with independent filmmakers and small production companies that are looking to commercialise their films in order to gain a fair and sustainable revenue. This process starts with the acquisition of content and continues with the licensing of international rights and its sale to different territories. Some of these outlets may include:

- National and International Networks.
- Online and streaming platforms.
- VOD content providers.
- Educational and cultural programs.
- Films societies.
- Home Entertainment.
- Non theatrical public and private screenings.
- Non traditional exhibitions such as transportation and stationary screens.

We are looking for:
- Spanish, french and english speaking films, or any language movies that have spanish, french or english subtitles.
- Films up to 30 minutes.
- Premiere date can't be older than 2017.
- Films that don't have distribution deals and have cleared rights for commercial use.

Films that are selected would be offer a commercial distribution deal to be represented and manage by SouthBorder Distribution.

We do not provide awards as we are not a Film Festival. This is a scouting of short films and an opportunity to create financial profit for your films.

"SouthBorder Distribution - Short Films Scouting" is an open call for short films that want to be part of the SouthBorder Distribution catalogue for commercial distribution.

This call it's not a Film Festival, is a scouting of short films. It was created exclusively for connecting filmmakers with a company dedicated to represent, manage and commercialise films for networks, online platforms, on demand purchase, educational programs, and different outlets that can provide some sort of revenue for the filmmakers.

This is an invitation to connect and work with us.

We do not hold open projections of any sort and don't provide false competitions or prizes. What we do is watch the films, select which ones we want to work with and than we make an official offer to filmmakers and film companies to manage and represent their films as a way to try to provide new businesses and create a financial profit that allows them to keep making auteur films.

We only work with films we like or that we feel can be marketable for a specific audience or territory.

Please, do not consider submitting your film unless you are interested in commercial distribution.

Films must have cleared rights or owned the rights of it's intellectual property. We will not work with films that are not ready for commercial distribution. SouthBorder Distribution does not take responsibility on any dispute of rights made by a third party. By submitting you declared to be a legitimate representative of the film and that you are fully aware of the conditions of this open call.

Any questions about this open call, please contact entries@southborder.cl
