Muestra Internacional De Cine Experimental Y Animación De Puerto Rico - MICEA ()

The Experimental Film and Animation Festival of Puerto Rico, known by its acronym in Spanish "MICEA", is a film festival dedicated to promoting and presenting alternative cinema in Puerto Rico.

Our mission is to expose the public to a raw and daring cinema.

The MICEA has four national and international sections to present audiovisual works of the highest quality. Our priority is to show films from Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Latin America in order to promote cultural exchange.

There will be 4 award categories.

-Best National Experimental Short
-Best International Experimental Short
-Best National Animation
-Best International Animation.

Submission Requirements

1. Participants can submit as many films as they wish as long as they have authorship over said works (i.e. Producer or Director credit).


2. The films should not exceed 20 minutes and are not required to be of any specific theme.


3. All films must be submitted with subtitles in English and / or Spanish.

Selection

The festival has four official categories in competition. Participants submit Animation and Experimental Film for all categories. Art videos that are not animated will be considered for the Experimental section. The selection committee is responsible for deciding which section the selected works participate and communicating it to the participants.
 
There will be 4 award categories. Best National Experimental Short, Best International Experimental Short, Best National Animation, Best International Animation.


Terms and Conditions


1. The selected films will be screened for the public during the festival, in accordance with the calendar prepared in advance.

2. The festival will ensure that the projections are presented in a quality format.

All films must be submitted in MP4 or .MOV format with a resolution of 1920x1080 H.264 codec, 20 mbps (minimum), STEREO (avoid 5.1).

3. Copies of selected films should be sent online, through a file transfer service such as Filemail, WeTransfer, MyAirBridge, Google Drive, etc.

4. The festival may edit and use material of the selected films for promotional purposes. It may use a fragment of the work (maximum of 1 min) for social media and the festival website.


5. The festival reserves the right to keep a copy of the selected films, guaranteeing their copyright and intellectual property rights. The selection in the festival implies entry into the MICEA Tour around Puerto Rico, we will be presenting selected works around multiple locations in Puerto Rico after the festival dates.
