The Garanhuns Film Festival – Affective Territories will be held in May 2025, in the city of Garanhuns, in the state of Pernambuco. The festival aims to promote independent audiovisual productions, focusing on short films, both national and international, that explore the theme "Affective Territories."

§1 - Best National Short Film
§2 - Best International Short Film
§3 - Best Animated Short Film
§4 - Best Pernambuco Short Film
§5 - Best Genre Short Film (in the "So Scary" Screening)
§6 - Best Documentary Short Film

Regulations - Garanhuns Film Festival – Affective Territories 2025

Clause 1 – Purpose

The Garanhuns Film Festival – Affective Territories will be held in May 2025, in the city of Garanhuns, in the state of Pernambuco. The festival aims to promote independent audiovisual productions, focusing on short films, both national and international, that explore the theme "Affective Territories."

Clause 2 – Screening Categories

All festival screenings are exclusively for short films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes. The categories are as follows:

§1 - National Screening: Short films produced throughout Brazil.

§2 - International Screening: Short films produced outside of Brazil.

§3 - Animation Screening: Short animated films, either national or international.

§4 - Pernambuco Screening: Short films produced in the state of Pernambuco.

§5 - "So Scary" Screening: Short films in genres such as horror, suspense, fantasy, and science fiction.

§6 - Documentary Screening: Short documentary films, produced both nationally and internationally, addressing themes related to identity, culture, or social issues.

Clause 3 – Submissions
Submissions will be open from November 1, 2024, to December 1, 2024, and must be made exclusively through the official festival website.

§1 - Audiovisual productions of short films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, produced from 2022 onwards, will be accepted.

§2 - Productions must align with the central theme of the festival, "Affective Territories."

Clause 4 – Selection
The films will be selected by a curatorial committee composed of film and arts professionals.

§1 - The list of selected films will be announced on the official festival website by March 15, 2025.

§2 - The selected films will be screened during the festival, in May 2025.

Clause 5 – awards
The selected short films will compete for the Affective Territories Trophy in the following categories:

§1 - Best National Short Film
§2 - Best International Short Film
§3 - Best Animated Short Film
§4 - Best Pernambuco Short Film
§5 - Best Genre Short Film (in the "So Scary" Screening)
§6 - Best Documentary Short Film

Clause 6 – File Format and Submission
The files of submitted productions must be in MP4 format (Full HD or HD) and shared via platforms like Google Drive, Vimeo, or similar services.

§1 - If necessary, the festival may request a new submission of files to ensure screening quality.

§2 - The festival is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of submitted files, which will be used solely for screening purposes.

Clause 7 – Final Provisions

§1 - Screenings of selected films will be free and open to the public.

§2 - The decisions of the judging panel are final and cannot be appealed.

§3 - The festival reserves the right to make changes to the event if necessary, with prior notice to participants.
