RULES OF THE BELALCÁZAR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2024.

DESCRIPTION:

The Belalcázar International Film Festival celebrates its second edition between August 7 and 10, 2024. Belalcázar is located in the north of the province of Córdoba (Spain), in the Pedroches Valley, a bordering enclave between the communities from Andalusia, Extremadura and Castila La Mancha.

In this second edition, a call is made to filmmakers from all over the world, with works of less than 20 minutes that address any topic. There will be three sections with animated, documentary and fiction short films.

CHARACTERISTICS

All directors and producers of any nationality, over 18 years of age, who own the exhibition rights of the works they present, may participate. Each participant may attend with the audiovisual productions they wish.

Fiction, documentary and animated short films are admitted, excluding works of a commercial or advertising nature.

The production date of the short film must be after January 1, 2023.

The maximum duration of the short films will be 20 minutes, including the credits.

The theme of the short films will be free.

The dialogues of the works must be in Spanish or subtitled in Spanish.

2. REGISTRATION

The registration deadline will be July 7, 2024.

A standard registration fee of €5.00 is established for short films received until May 31, 2024, and a late registration of €7.00 for short films received from June 1 until the end of the registration period.

3. SECTIONS

Three sections will be scheduled.

Children and Youth Section, Comedy Short Film Section, and Official Section.

When registering, the filmmaker will choose which section he or she wishes to participate in.

The Children and Youth Section will host short films considered for all audiences, where those intended for children will be prioritized.

The Comedy Short Film Section will include short films whose main genre is comedy.

Animated, fiction or documentary short films on any subject may participate in the Official Section.

All prizes will be subject to the corresponding personal income tax withholdings or other taxes if any.

5. JURY AND SELECTION COMMITTEE

The festival's selection committee will be in charge of choosing the works that will become part of each of the sections.

The jury that will decide on the awards will be different from the selection committee and will be made up of at least three people related to the film, cultural and/or artistic sector.

Likewise, the public prize (non-financial) will be decided by anonymous popular vote on the day of the screening of each of the sections, so there will be three public prizes, one for each section.

The decision of the selection committee, the jury and the public will be final.

6. PRIZES

"Al Gafequi" award from the jury for the best short film in the Official Section: €500 and trophy.

“Julio Rodríguez Díaz” Award for the best short film in the Comedy Short Film Section: €500 and trophy.

Jury Prize for best short film in the Children's and Youth Section: €500 and trophy.

Children's and Youth Section Audience Award: Trophy.
Audience Award from the Comedy Short Film Section: Trophy.
Official Section Audience Award: Trophy.
Best Actor Award: Trophy
Best Actress Award: Trophy
Award for best photography: Trophy
Best sound award: Trophy
Award for best soundtrack: Trophy

The prizes will be paid by bank transfer in favor of the natural or legal person who has made the registration or is directly linked to the registered work in question, being subject to the legal withholdings established by current law. The trophies will be awarded at the final gala to the director, producer or relevant person from the artistic cast of each of the award-winning short films.

The winners in each of the sections whose prize carries a financial amount must attend the Closing Gala, which will be held on August 10, 2024, provided that the residence of the director or address of the producer of the short film is within the Iberian Peninsula. Their absence will be understood as renunciation of the prize awarded and the prize will go to the next short film that, in the opinion of the jury, has placed in the next place.

The organization will not be responsible for the shipping costs of trophies for those not attending the festival.

The jury reserves the right to award as many special mentions without financial prize as it considers, as well as to declare void the prizes it deems appropriate.

7. GENERAL RULES

The festival will cover the accommodation costs of one representative plus their companion for each award-winning film in the Best Short Film and Young Award categories, up to a maximum of one night. The festival will contact the winners before the awards gala in order to facilitate the conditions of attendance and its organization, although the winners will not be made public until the closing gala.

The festival may exhibit the selected short films in the physical locations and times it deems appropriate during the days of the festival and in parallel screenings that may take place during the following two years, up to a maximum of five screenings.

The authors of the works selected for the competition who are present on the day of the screening may present their short film before its exhibition.

Participation implies authorization for the exhibition of the selected short film within the framework of the festival, as well as the use of a fragment of the work and complementary graphic material, for its dissemination as informative material in any media, as well as on the website Festival website, official profiles on social networks, information screens or any other type of graphic material. No complete short film will ever be broadcast by any means other than the physical exhibition at the festival.

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The author or owner will maintain his intellectual right and it will be his responsibility so long as they are not subject to any legal liability and there are no third-party rights. In any case, the Festival and its entire organization will be held harmless in the event of bankruptcy due to this circumstance. The presentation of a short film at the Belalcázar International Film Festival entails, on the part of the selected participants, the non-exclusive transfer of the material to the organizing entities for use in activities related to the festival.

9. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Registration implies full acceptance of these bases.

Any issue not provided for in the rules will be resolved by the festival organization.

The organization of the Belalcázar International Film Festival reserves the right to modify these rules if necessary, either for reasons beyond the control of the organization or for any other reason that requires it.

All participants, by virtue of being participants, fully accept these rules as well as the resolution by the Festival organization of any unforeseen event not included in them.
