Nahui Ollin Film Festival

We invite artists from all over the world to participate with pieces that explore or propose new perspectives on the moving image.

"Perpetual motion" or "Nahui Ollin" is a fundamental concept in Aztec / Mexica cosmology that refers to the four directions; ordered and chaotic movements that challenge and at the same time motivate human movements. (G.S.E)

-All films selected will receive award-certificates.

-The selected videos will be screened at several remarkable venues in Mexico.

-Non competitive festival

The call is open to filmmakers, visual artists, students, amateur and professional videomakers, national and foreign artists from August 2022 to January 2023. The results will be announced on February 1st, 2023.

Rules & Terms

Basis of participation

1.- The call is open to all audiences, both nationally and internationally.

2.- Short films may belong to any of the following categories: Fiction, documentary, video dance, video performance, animation, found footage, video essay and / or experimental.

3.- The subject is totally free.

4.- The films may be made with any type of camera or digital technology. The important thing is creativity and the use of poetry in audiovisual media.

5.- The works must have a minimum duration of 1 minute, maximum 60 minutes (short, medium and feature film).

6.- The films must be authored by the participating artist or filmmaker.

7.- Registration will be made exclusively through the Festhome platform.

8.- The authors of the selected films must send a link for download

free that does not expire (Dropbox, We transfer, Vimeo, Drive or similar, free of charge and NO require request access permissions or registration) or enable download via Festhome. The format must be MP4, codec H264.

9.- Selected foreign films must have Spanish subtitles for their

final display. NOFF offers a translation service from 50 dls depending on the duration of the film if needed.

10.- The deadline for registration January, 2023. Registrations made after

That date will not be taken into account.

11.- The final selection of films will be announced on the official networks of the festival to as of February 1, 2023.

12.- The jury's decision will be final.

13.- The selected works will be screened during the days of the Festival (February 2023) in Durango, México and other alternative spaces.

14.- The contestants are responsible for the rights of the works sent to the Festival.

15.- The projection schedules will be announced in the official program of the Festival, as well as its social networks.

16.- The Festival may use fragments and frames of the films selected for dissemination of the event in the media, including the Internet.

17.- The organization of the Festival will not cover in any case the coverage of tickets, per diem or accommodation for the authors of the selected short films.

18.- The festival is non-competitive, so it will not pay projections to the selected artists.

19- Registration of music videos or advertising videos will not be accepted.

20.- The Festival will disqualify the works that apologize to racism to misogyny or any type of violence that denigrates and violates human rights.

21.- Sending a movie to Nahui Ollin Film Festival implies acceptance of these rules.
