What is Claqueta Emérita?
Claqueta Emérita is a national short film festival that favors the production and promotion of audiovisual works made by national creators. Without losing the regional essence of its first years, Claqueta Emérita gives great value to the professional work made in Spain and Extremadura, as well as to the work made by young creators who have in the educational centers their most fervent reflection.

Claqueta Emérita is made up of several activities/actions:

● Short Film Contest aimed at individual or collective filmmakers who hold Spanish nationality.
● Workshops, meetings and audiovisual screenings carried out the days prior to the celebration of the Final Gala in Mérida or in towns of Extremadura.
● Final awards ceremony with the collaboration of students and recent graduates of the Audiovisual and Entertainment Production training cycle of the I.E.S. Extremadura.

Short film contest.
Among the activities to be carried out within Claqueta Emérita VII, there is a short film contest for Spanish filmmakers and creators.

Official Festival Awards:

● First Prize Claqueta Emérita to the best national short film. Prize 250 €, statuette and diploma.

● Award to the best short film from Extremadura. Prize 200 €, statuette and diploma.

● Prize for the best short film from an educational center, school or association working with young people. Prize 150 € in computer or audiovisual material, statuette and diploma.

● Prize for the short film from an educational center, school or association working with young people that best reflects coexistence and tolerance. Statuette and diploma.

● Award for the short film from an educational center, school or association working with young people that best reflects educational and civic values. Statuette and diploma.

● Best animated short film. Statuette and diploma.

● Best documentary. Statuette and diploma.

● Best male interpretation. Statuette and diploma.

● Best female performance. Statuette and diploma.

● Best cinematography. Statuette and diploma.

● Special Award ESMÈRARTE Cultural Association. Statuette and diploma.


Other awards:

● Audience Award.

Short and Change Award, given by the City Council of Mérida.

● Other prizes may be awarded by organizations and institutions collaborating with the festival.


Any of the awards may be declared void according to the criteria of the jury. The same short film may receive more than one award. The jury's decision is final.

The prizes will be subject to the possible tax withholdings established by law.

RULES
The contest rules are as follows:

Addressees.
● Those works carried out by individual or collective filmmakers may participate as long as they are Spanish nationals.
● There will be no limit to the number of works submitted.


General conditions.
● The works to be submitted will be pieces made between 2022 and 2024.
● Works that have already participated in previous editions of Claqueta Emérita will not be accepted.
● The duration must not exceed 15 minutes of projection, including credits.
Only exceptionally, short films of longer duration will be accepted by the organization.
● Works whose original language is not Spanish must be subtitled in that language. In any case, measures that favor audiovisual accessibility will be positively valued.
● Each short film will be registered in a file in the language of the filmmaker and will be subtitled in Spanish.
Each short film will be registered in the name of the natural person who appears in the registration form, hereinafter referred to as the owner. The organization assumes that this person

● The holder agrees to also hold all copyrights, including the assignment of images of the performers. In the event that the directors, actors and actresses are minors

● The holder grants to the organization of the contest the rights of exploitation of the works presented, which in no case will be made commercially, within the
activities organized during Claqueta Emérita in various localities of the region, and for the promotion of the same in the media, social networks and
on the website of the association and the festival.
The works participating in the contest may be screened by the organization in centers, libraries and specialized non-commercial theaters, as well as through the website or Youtube channel of the association. Otherwise, the owner or creator of the work must object in writing, either for copyright reasons or for any other reason.
● The products presented will become part of the Claqueta Emérita Catalog if so decided by the organization of the festival, the holder ceding the exploitation rights referred to for this purpose, in the same way as detailed in the previous point.
The organization is empowered to unilaterally solve any problem or doubt that may arise during the competition, always for the benefit of the same, its decisions being free and unappealable in this regard.


Deadlines and forms of Registration.
● The deadline for submitting entries is September 15, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
● Registration will be made by accessing the web page of https://esmerartecultura.es/claqueta-emerita-vii-2024/ where access to registration is collected through a form.
● The formats accepted for submission will be MP4, AVI, MOV and MPG.


Selection committee and jury.
The organization will propose several short films selected for each of the categories and prizes to be awarded.
● The organization will designate the persons who will compose the jury in charge of designating the winning short films from among those selected.
The composition of the jury will be made public in social networks and on the website.
