Festival start: 18 August 2025      Festival end: 23 August 2025

The Ancash Film Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary, transforming through cinema, exploring, learning, and finding its own horizons, between its work, its educational offerings, and the films it hosts, welcomes, and shares.

We are an Ancash-based festival committed to the cultural development of the region, developing new filmmakers, and promoting change through cinema with a focus on sustainable development aligned with the 2023 Agenda (SDGs).

For this fifth edition, the Festival presents three competitive categories.

Three main prizes will be awarded in each corresponding category.

INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION: CINEMA THAT TRANSFORMS

Is it possible to build a more balanced world for new generations? In recent years, the gaps in the economic, social, and environmental spheres have become more evident. This generation's audiovisual works record, voice, and denounce the stories and problems of diverse territories.

We inaugurate the Ancash Film Festival's permanent competition with this category open to films that address any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2023 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/objetivos-de-desarrollo-sostenible/).

The works can have been produced anywhere in the world, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, and are not restricted by nationality or genre. However, they must have been released after 2023. If possible, please specify which SDG they belong to. Works not in Spanish must have subtitles.

PERUVIAN SHORT FILM COMPETITION: PERUVIAN CARTOGRAPHIES

We are returning to many of our origins as a festival to give space to national short-format works that reflect the current landscape of our cinema.

Works must have been produced in Peru or by a Peruvian filmmaker, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes and without genre restrictions. However, they must have been released after 2023. Works not in Spanish must have subtitles.

ANCASHIAN STORIES IN VERTICAL FORM

Video Contest - "Ancash in 60 Seconds"*
Works must have been produced in Ancash or directed by an Ancash filmmaker, with a maximum duration of 1 minute in vertical format and without genre restrictions. However, they must not have been premiered or exhibited on any virtual or in-person platforms. Works not in Spanish must have subtitles.

Priority will be given to works that feature themes related to Ancash culture and the care of our region.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
