The Just A Minute Festival (15)

The Just A Minute Festival is an online viewers choice event that encourages people to make short films, one minute or less, using any device or media of any genre or subject matter.

There are cash prizes and there is no entry fee.

There will be a premier event at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA and screenings at various locations.

The films that receive the most votes will win cash prizes. All payments are made via U.S. check or PayPay.

Submission Format and Content

The 60-Second Rule: All submissions must have a maximum total running time of 1 minute (60.00 seconds). This limit includes all titles and credits

Creative Freedom: Entries may be created using any device or format (Film, smartphone, animation, machinima, tablet, etc.).

Accepted File Formats: To ensure compatibility, submissions must be uploaded as .MP4 (H.264/H.265) or .MOV. HD video (1080p or higher) is strongly recommended for exhibition quality.

Language & Subtitles: All non-English language films must include hard-coded

English subtitles.



How to Enter

Submission Portal: All entries must be submitted via Festhome.

Submission Limit: Each individual creator may submit a maximum of three (3) entries per season.

Deadline: Entries must be posted to the website before 11:59 PM Eastern Time (U.S.) on April 30, 2026.

Age Requirement: There is no age limit for entry. However, filmmakers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian’s approval on the entry form.


Voting and Prizes

Selection Process: A jury of industry professionals will select the top entries to move forward to the public voting round.
Public Voting Period: Winners are selected via online voting at JustAMinute.tv. Voting begins at 12:01 AM on May 10, 2026, and concludes at 11:59 PM on June 9, 2026 (ET).

Voting Integrity:

Votes must be cast by humans only; the use of bots or automated voting scripts will result in immediate disqualification.

The viewer must watch the entire film before a rating can be submitted.

Only one vote per entry is permitted per session. (Users must log out before voting on the same entry again).

Prizes: Cash prizes are awarded based on final rankings and will be distributed exclusively via PayPal or U.S. Check.


Legal and Terms of Agreement

No Cost and No Compensation: By submitting an entry, the filmmaker acknowledges and agrees that all rights, licenses, and permissions granted herein are provided at no cost to The Media Tribe, Inc., the Just A Minute Festival, or its assignees. The filmmaker is not entitled to any monetary compensation, screening fees, or royalties for any use of the film as described in these rules.

Grant of Exhibition Rights: The filmmaker grants permission for the Festival, The Media Tribe, Inc., and JustAMinute.tv to screen the work in connection with Festival-related events. This includes, but is not limited to:

Public screenings and live festival events.
Community media broadcasts and cable access television.

Online presentations and digital showcases.
Grant of Promotional & Archival Rights: The filmmaker authorizes the use of excerpts—including video clips, stills, titles, and descriptive information—from the submission for publicity, promotional, educational, and archival purposes.

License for Distribution: The act of entering provides The Media Tribe, Inc. and JustAMinute.tv with a non-exclusive, perpetual, and worldwide license to post, stream, and otherwise distribute the submitted work via their websites and affiliated platforms. This distribution is granted solely for the purpose of promoting the Festival.

Warranty of Original Work: You warrant that the entry is your original work and that you hold all necessary rights (including music, talent releases, and third-party media). You agree to indemnify the Just A Minute Festival, The Media Tribe, Inc., and their assignees against all legal fees, damages, and expenses incurred due to a breach of this warranty.

Refusal of Entry: The Just A Minute Festival reserves the absolute right, at its discretion, to refuse or disqualify any entry for any reason.

Agreement to Rules: Submission constitutes full agreement to these terms. Any entry containing false or misleading information is invalid and may result in the disqualification of all entries submitted by that person.
