Festival start: 05 August 2026      Festival end: 15 August 2026

Turicine Film Festival (FECT), organized by Grupo Turicine aims to promote and showcase Ecuadorian cinematic production by fostering interaction between local talent and the general public in order to reach, encourage and develop new audiences across the country. The 2026 edition of FECT is supported by Ministerio de Cultura y Patrimonio and Instituto de Fomento a la Creatividad y la Innovación.

The awards presented at FECT are designed to recognize the talent of filmmakers, support their artistic development, and contribute to the growth of Ecuador's audiovisual industry.

In FECT 2026, winners in various categories will receive a statuette as a symbol of their achievement.

The Audience Choice Award will be determined based on the number of votes each work receives on the festival's Instagram account.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Submissions are open via the Festhome platform from March 15 to May 15, 2026.

Cinematic works produced between January 2025 and February 2026 may participate, provided they have not been commercially premiered in Quito, Ecuador prior to the festival.

Each work must be submitted by a single responsible person, who will act as the official contact between the festival and the production team. Entrants guarantee that they hold the copyright to the work.

The works will be reviewed and selected by the festival’s Programming team.

The Official Selection will consider quality criteria in the following areas: directing, screenplay, acting, cinematography, sound, art direction, editing, and thematic relevance. Priority will be given to works that address diverse and current social issues.

Works containing content that promotes violence, discrimination, or hate messages against any group or individual will be excluded.

Works in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles.

In 2026, the festival opens the following competitive categories:

International Feature Film Competition

National Short Film Competition

Latin American Student Short Film Competition

In 2026, the festival may also create parallel non-competitive sections by direct invitation for works of interest to the festival.

Only works that meet the established requirements will be considered for inclusion in the festival’s Official Selection.

The representatives of the selected works will be notified confidentially by email before the official announcement of the Selection.

Once selected, works may not be withdrawn from the festival under any circumstances.

The submission fee is non-refundable. Early submission is recommended to avoid technical issues. Submission implies full acceptance of these rules and conditions.

Any situation not covered herein will be resolved at the sole discretion of the festival organization.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
