The Iridescent Guadix International Film Festival. Was created with the aim of promoting diversity, inclusion, and visibility through film.

From the city of Guadix, gateway to the Granada Geopark, this event will offer a space for exhibition, training, and dialogue around cinema, highlighting national and international works. It will also serve as a platform for new talent, promoting the production of independent and arthouse films from an intersectional perspective as a tool for social transformation.

With this initiative, MagaZinema Cineclub seek to consolidate a space for resistance, creativity, and the celebration of diversity through the seventh artas a driver of social, economic, and cultural change.

Cash Prizes: 2,500€

The awards will be as follows:

Best Fiction Feature Film (Official Section): €800

Best Documentary Feature Film (Official Section): €800

Best Fiction Short Film (Official Section): €300

Best Andalusian Work (Cine Andaluz): €150

Best Work from Granada (Cine de Graná): €150

Best Asian Work (Miradas de Asia): €150

Best Work from the Women Creators Section: €150

Monetary prizes will be paid via bank transfer, after applicable taxes and withholdings, in accordance with current legislation.

Special Mentions:

The Jury may, if deemed appropriate, grant one special mention per category (without monetary award).

Additionally, GIFIC establishes the following non-monetary award:

Audience Award: Granted to a work from the Official Selection in either the feature or short film categories. The audience will vote physically by ballot after the screening of the competing works.

The jury’s decisions regarding the awarding of prizes shall be final and unappealable.

FIRST. – Presentation of GIFIC, Editorial Line, and Purpose of the Call

The Guadix Iridescent International Film Festival was created with the purpose of promoting diversity, inclusion, and visibility through cinema.
From the city of Guadix, gateway to the Granada Geopark, this event will offer a space for exhibition, training, and dialogue around cinema, highlighting both national and international works.

In addition, it will serve as a platform for new talents, encouraging independent and auteur filmmaking from an intersectional perspective.

SECOND. – Sections and awards

The sections of GIFIC are as follows:

Only films participating in the Official Section will be eligible for monetary awards, which are as follows:

Best Feature Film (Official Section): €800
Best Short Film (Official Section): €300
Additionally, GIFIC establishes the following awards for the parallel sections, each with a monetary prize of €150:
Women Creators Award: Granted to a female filmmaker or a cultural entity of special relevance in cinema. This award will be presented by the festival organization.
Asian Perspectives Award: Granted to a work or figure from the Asian continent.
Andalusian Award: Granted to a work or figure of significance from Andalusia. This award will be presented by the festival organization.
Granada Award: Granted to a work or figure of significance from Granada. This award will be presented by the festival organization.

Monetary prizes will be paid via bank transfer, after applicable taxes and withholdings in accordance with current legislation.

Additionally, the following non-monetary award is established:
Audience Award: Granted to a short fiction film from the Official Selection. The public will vote physically by ballot after the screening of the competing works.

The jury’s decisions will be final.

A single work may receive more than one award if the jury deems it appropriate.

prizes will be paid within a maximum of 60 days after the festival ends, once the required fiscal documentation has been submitted.

THIRD. – Requirements for Participating Works

Films may be submitted in the following categories according to their duration:

Feature Films: Over 60 minutes.
Short Films: Under 30 minutes.

Films between 30 and 60 minutes may also participate, at the discretion of the Selection Committee, which will inform interested parties in advance.

Films of all genres are accepted (excluding advertising and corporate films). The subject matter is open, provided it aligns with GIFIC’s values and objectives.

Only films produced after January 1, 2025, will be eligible.

Films may be shot in any language. Those not in Spanish must include english and Spanish subtitles for consideration by the Programming Committee.

FOURTH. – Submission of Works

Work-in-progress or non-final cuts will be accepted, provided that a final exhibition copy is available before August 1, 2026.
If no online screener is available, please contact the organization for instructions.

Accepted exhibition formats: Digital files (ProRes HD, AVI HD, MP4 HD).

Notification of selected works will be made before August 15, 2025, through the submission platform.

For inquiries, participants may contact the festival to confirm the status of their film. In the event of registration without subsequent response to the festival’s interest, the organization reserves the right to screen the work, assuming the participant’s consent to collaborate with GIFIC.

FIFTH. – Screening Rights

Promotion
Trailers, stills, frames, images, or posters from selected titles may be used for promotional materials and social media related to the festival.
Any materials provided by the film’s production or direction may be used for promotional purposes or the festival catalogue. The organization must be notified in writing of any restrictions.

Responsibilities
Producers of selected works grant screening rights for festival venues and authorize the inclusion of trailers in festival promotional videos, without requiring an additional contract.

No commercial use of materials will be made without consent.
Submitting a film in any of the accepted formats implies full acceptance of these GIFIC rules.

SIXTH. – Selection

The Selection Committee, composed of six members appointed by the GIFIC organizing board, will determine the works participating in the festival.

The Committee may request additional information, missing documentation, or original format copies to evaluate technical quality.
Selected participants must provide promotional materials (stills, synopsis, director’s notes, excerpts, posters).

A screening copy must also be delivered in DCP, Blu-ray, or digital file format.

The list of selected films will be announced through press releases, press conferences, and GIFIC’s social media, along with details of the parallel activities.

The organization will provide accreditations to representatives of the selected works to attend festival activities.

SEVENTH. – Juries

Two juries will be appointed to deliberate on the awards in the official sections: one for feature films and one for short films, each composed of five members.

The juries will consist of individuals with experience and sensitivity in the film industry. Each jury will have a president and four members, one of whom will also act as secretary.
Their names will be published on the GIFIC website and social media.

No jury member may have any professional or personal connection with the competing works.

Deliberations will be confidential, and decisions will be made by simple majority and recorded in a signed report.

EIGHTH. – Award Decisions

The jury will issue the final decision, recorded in the corresponding report and notified to the winners.
prizes will only be granted if the recipients meet all legal and administrative requirements, including submission of the required documents.

If a winner disagrees with the award or wishes to decline it, they must notify the GIFIC organization in writing within 48 hours of official notification. After this period, acceptance of the prize and all its conditions will be assumed.

The jury will evaluate films according to the following criteria:

TENTH. – Festival Programming and Announcement of Winners

The GIFIC organization will determine the order and schedule of screenings, reserving the right to exhibit each selected film at any of its venues during the festival dates.
In the case of overlapping screenings, competition films (both feature and short) will not coincide, ensuring audiences can attend all if desired.

GIFIC reserves the right to screen short films consecutively, in sessions of up to seven works, in the order it deems most suitable.

ELEVENTH. – Acceptance of Terms

Participation in GIFIC implies full acceptance of these rules and conditions.

TWELFTH. – Additional Provisions

These festival regulations are available in both Spanish and english. In case of doubt, the Spanish version shall prevail.

Award-winning films must mention the prize obtained at GIFIC in all promotional materials and credits of copies intended for commercial screenings, other festivals, or home distribution.

In accordance with current data protection laws, the organization informs participants that the personal data provided will be incorporated into a file owned by GIFIC, for the purpose of managing their participation in the festival. Participants also authorize the recording and use of their image and voice during festival activities, for promotional and non-commercial purposes.

Any changes to these rules or to the festival dates will be publicly announced via the official website [www.gificfestival.com] and GIFIC’s social media channels.
