Adriatikino Adriatic Film Exhibition celebrating Analog Footage Film (3)

We are excited to announce our call for entries for the 2027 Adriatikino edition. We are looking for short films based on celluloid film or other analog media, with no boundaries on genre. Experimental work, found footage and mixed media are welcome, as well as any cinematic language that challenges the orthodoxy.

Adriatikino is an in-person screening organized by local filmmakers in collaboration with Luma Experimental Film Lab and Teatro Nuovo di Capodarco in Fermo (Italy), close to the Adriatic Sea. Inspired by its historical spirit of connecting cultures, Adriatikino aims to be an encounter to nourish a film-loving community, to promote exchange between filmmakers and film lovers, as well as to spread analog film practices.

The event includes screenings, workshops and other events. The movie theater Teatro Nuovo di Capodarco is the main venue for the screening. Luma Experimental Film Lab is a second venue and a film workshop promoting darkroom experience.

We are seeking short films that use celluloid film or other analog media, no longer than 15 minutes. Once again this year, we have a special category for super short films, with a duration of up to 1 minute.

In a spirit of celebration, Adriatikino is a non-competitive exhibition of analog cinema

ELIGIBILITY
1. Adriatikino is a non-competitive festival of analog cinema. We accept works based on any analog format: film (8mm, Super 8, 16mm, 35mm, including cameraless and hand-processed work); or analog video (VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, Betamax, U-matic and similar). Found footage is included. Hybrid works are accepted when the analog source is central.

2. We accept films of any genre: experimental, documentary, fiction, animation, art film, essay film, hybrid, unclassifiable.

3. Films of any year and country are accepted. Short films: up to 15 minutes including credits. Super shorts: up to 1 minute including credits.

4. Premiere status is not required.

SUBMISSION
5. Submissions are accepted only through Festhome. Each film requires a separate submission.

6. Films not in English must have English subtitles.

FEES AND DISCOUNTS
7. Adriatikino is self-funded: submission fees cover the festival's costs. For the Short film category, discounts are available based on the film's country of production, to welcome work from as many parts of the world as possible: free entry for countries currently affected by war and a reduced fee for many others. Check eligibility and find your code at adriatikino.it (Italy is entitled to the code).

If you are able to pay the full fee, you are supporting the festival and helping to make these discounts possible. No other waivers or discounts are available, and unfortunately we are unable to process individual requests.

8. Co-productions pay the highest applicable fee. Discount codes are reserved for eligible films: otherwise, the submission will be disqualified without refund.

9. Fees are non-refundable. This also applies if the festival is cancelled, postponed or moved online for reasons beyond our control, such as natural disasters, epidemics or other force majeure events.

SELECTION
10. Films are selected by the festival's artistic direction. All decisions, including on controversial cases, are final and not subject to appeal.

11. Notification of selection must remain confidential until the programme is announced.

12. Films can be withdrawn directly on Festhome until the selection is accepted. Once accepted, they cannot be withdrawn.

13. All communication will take place by email from info@adriatikino.it. We suggest adding it to your contacts: some of our messages have ended up in spam before. Not hearing back from you after selection may lead to the film's exclusion.

SELECTED FILMS
14. Films are screened from a digital file. Selected filmmakers will be asked to provide:
a downloadable high-definition file (.mov or .mp4); an .srt file with Italian or English subtitles covering dialogue, voice-over and on-screen text.

Please send your materials on time: missing files may result in the film's exclusion from the programme, at the sole discretion of the artistic direction.

FESTIVAL DATES
15. The festival is scheduled for May 14-15, 2027. Dates may change at the organizers' discretion.

RIGHTS
16. The filmmaker must hold all necessary rights for the film and all its elements, including music and images.

17. By submitting, the filmmaker allows the festival to screen the film at the festival and to use images and excerpts for promotion and documentation.

18. Selected films become part of the festival archive. They will be used for cultural purposes only and never exploited commercially.

GENERAL
19. The festival may change its format or schedule if necessary. Submitting a film implies full acceptance of these rules. Questions: info@adriatikino.it
