African Film Week (AFW) is a vibrant celebration of African storytelling, showcasing a diverse range of films that highlight the creativity, culture, and voices from across the continent. From thought-provoking documentaries to groundbreaking fiction, AFW is a platform for emerging and established filmmakers to share their work with a global audience.

This year’s edition will feature curated screenings, industry conversations, networking opportunities, and a special Cultural Exchange Evening, promoting international collaboration. Whether you’re a filmmaker, film lover, or industry professional, AFW promises an unforgettable experience that honors the power of African cinema.

AFW recognizes outstanding films across various categories, celebrating the talent and vision of African filmmakers. Award categories include:

Best Live Action Short
Best Animated Short
Best Documentary Short
Best Mobile Short
Best Student Short
Best Female Director
Viewers Choice Award
Videomentum Special Award

Winners will receive official laurels, industry recognition, and potential distribution or funding opportunities.

Rules & Terms

1. Eligibility: Submissions are open to filmmakers of African descent or films with African
themes.

2. Duration: Only short films (under 30 minutes) will be considered.

3. Language: Films in languages other than English must have English subtitles.

4. Screening & Jury Process: Selected films will be screened online via Festhome and
reviewed by a panel of international jurors.

5. Permissions: By submitting, filmmakers grant AFW the rights to screen their film during the festival and feature their films as part of any promotion.
