Ahora Es Corto presents a varied cultural program that has as its central axis the international short film competition. It also offers numerous parallel activities distributed throughout a week of the festival, which will be set in the incomparable setting, Vejer de la Frontera.
Cash Prizes: 4,000€
"Premio Ahora es Corto 2022" is awarded to the best film of the festival, consists of a budget of 1000 euros and the "Levantera" trophy.
• Prize -Menos es Más+: It will be awarded to a low budget film whose effective and creative use of available resources is reflected in the quality of the short. It consists of financial endowment and diploma.
• Premio Insólito(s): It will be awarded to a film that works its aesthetic proposal from the margins of the cinematographic language, movies that trying to expand the borders of this art. It consists of financial endowment and diploma.
• Premio Guasa: In relation to the theme addressed in this edition of the festival, this prize will be awarded to a short film that stands out for making use of humor as the backbone of the proposal. It consists of financial endowment and diploma.
• Premio Interpretación: It will designate the best interpretation of the shorts that participate in the contest regardless of gender or sexual condition. It consists of financial endowment and diploma.
• Audience Award. This award will be determined by a voting and scoring system on each short film by the audience attending the finalist screening sessions. It consists of financial endowment and the "Levantera" trophy.
• Premio "Ahora es Joven" consists of an endowment of 500 euros in three diferents prizes, the trophy "Levantera" and diploma. It will be determined by a specific jury for this section.
• Prize "Andalucia en Corto" consists of financial endowment and the trophy "Levantera". It will be appointed by the official jury of the festival.
1. Requirements.
1.1. Individual or collective filmmakers may participate, without there being a limit on the number of works that can be submitted.
1.2. Original short films, free-themed and in any type of cinematographic expression (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, essay, scientists, etc) will be accepted.
1.3. The maximum duration of films in competition shall not exceed 15 minutes, including credits.
1.4. Works produced and made before 1 January 2020 will not be admitted to the competition.
1.5. The registration in the festival confirms the participation in this call, and supposes the acceptance of the totality of its conditions by the candidates, as well as the transfer of the rights of exhibition and promotion of the films submitted for exhibition during the festival.
1.6. The works shall be presented in their original language. When the language is not Spanish it must include subtitles in Spanish or english, if the work is selected it will be a mandatory condition for participation in the contest that the copy of projection is sent with subtitles in Spanish.
2. Sections, list of prizes awarded and selection criteria.
2.1. Section Ahora es Corto 2022:
2.1.1. This section hosts the final phase of the competition and will feature a selection of short films that will be screened throughout the festival. The finalists will be chosen by the festival selection committee. The originality and general quality of the works presented will be valued, as well as the content of the story and the way of telling it. The criteria in no case will be governed by the budget or media impact, giving all the weight to the creative ability to tell a story with the resources that the authors have at their disposal. In this way we give the same weight to emerging cinema and the professional counted from any type of audiovisual narrative.
2.1.2. The winners will be announced and screened at the closing gala on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
2.2. Section Ahora es Joven 2022:
2.2.1. This section will admit short films of any genre and cinematographic expression with a duration of less than 10 minutes.
2.2.2. This section has as a fundamental requirement that the production of the work has been carried out by a director under the age of 18.
2.2.3. The quality and overall result of the papers submitted shall be assessed. Aspects such as the script, photography, editing, music or any other matter to be determined by the specific jury of this section will be taken into account.
2.2.4. The winner will be announced on Friday, September 16, 2022, at a specific gala for the Youth Prize.
2.3 Section Andalusia is Short:
2.3.1. This section is aimed at presenting a panorama of the contemporary Andalusian short film to give visibility to the creativity that its authors use in their narratives when addressing issues of landscape and local culture.
2.3.2. The works listed in this section must meet one of the following requirements:
a) It has been produced or directed by people born in Andalusia or who have had a fixed residence in Andalusia for 5 years.
b) To be a work carried out by Andalusian production companies with proven activity in the local industry.
c) That at least 70% of the locations are in Andalusia.
2.3.3. The winners will be announced and screened at the closing gala on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
2.4. Children’s Cinema Section:
2.4.1. This section is aimed at children to offer them the possibility of enjoying an authentic cinematic experience inside a collective dark room with a large screen.
2.4.2. This section will admit short films of any genre and cinematographic expression with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
2.4.3. The prize awarded in this section will be determined by a voting system by the children attending the screening sessions, consists of a financial endowment and diploma.
2.4.4. The winner will be announced and screened at the closing gala on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
3. Registration, dates and fees.
3.1. Registration can be made through the platform:

3.2. The registration for the sections "Ahora es Joven" can also be done through the email ahoraescorto@gmail.com, in this case the following information should be included:

3.3. The deadline for submission of the works for the sections "Ahora es Corto", "Andalucía en Corto" and "Cine de Chiquillería" will be from 25 March 2022 until 15 June 2022, inclusive. The "Ahora es Joven" section will be open from March 25, 2022 to July 31.
3.4. The works registered for the international contest will have to pay a registration fee of 3.5 euros, except those productions that come from developing countries that are covered by the DAC list of the (ODA/OECD).
4. Requirements for selected films.
4.1 The works selected in competition will be announced on the website of the Festival on July 15, 2022. Prior confirmation will be sent by email to each selected.
4.1 The exhibition copy of the shorts that are selected as finalists must be sent to the organization of the festival in HD format, MOV or MP4 file with minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080 -1080p- until August 15, 2022.

The award consists of an endowment of 1000 euros and the "Levantera" trophy, will be determined by the official jury of the festival and will designate the best short film in the contest.
The winner will be announced and will be screened at the closing gala, on Saturday, September 17th, 2022.
