At B-Retina Festival we want to become a platform for B-Movies of all kinds, from guerrilla trash cinema to unclassifiable cult masterpieces; therefore, emergent talents, consecrated artists and difficult to classify characters will show us how they understand and see the world around us using their inventiveness and boldness.

During the days of the festival, we will become a showcase for a variety of classic films, premieres, shorts, web series, talks, interviews, and many surprises.

The festival has several sections:

-International competition in the official FEATURE FILMS section

-International competition in the official SHORT FILM section

-Retrospectives

-Free outdoor shows

-Screenings for all audiences

-Talks

Cash Prizes: 500€


Best Feature Film - €300 + trophy (Prize awarded to the most voted feature film)

Best Short Film - €200 + trophy (Prize awarded to the most voted short film)

Second Best Short Film - Gift Pack + Trophy (Prize awarded to the second most voted short film)

Best-Worst Short, Gift Pack + trophy (prize awarded by the organization)

Rules of the 9th B-Retina Feature and Short Film Contest

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1-. Works from all around the globe will be accepted.

2-. All participants must be 18+.

3-. Participation can be either individual or collective. We accept more than one work per author.

4-. It will be especially valued the works included in B-movies genre, both by theme and budget.

5-. The festival organization has the right to not accept the works if, once they’ve been checked, they’re not suitable for projection because of their quality, format or any other issue that may be considered.

6-. The festival organization will be allowed to screen any of the received works during the festival. Any work will not be published on our website nor on our social networks or shared with third parties.

7-. Selected works can’t cancel their participation under any circumstance.

REGISTRATION

1-. Registrations will be made through one of the Festival partner platforms: FESTHOME.

2-. The feature films and short films must register from 2nd of January to 31st of May the latest.

3-. If all works are not in Catalan or Spanish language, at least, subtitles in one of the following languages should be provided: Catalan, Spanish, English, French.

4-. The festival's programming team will assess the productions fitting the minimal requirements and will decide which of them can be part of the Festival’s Official Section


SELECTION OF FEATURE FILMS

1. All received works will have a minimum length of 40 minutes (including credits) and their production date can’t be earlier to 2023


2. All qualified feature films will be announced on our website and their authors will be notified by e-mail and/or phone.

SELECTION OF SHORT FILMS

1-. All received works will have a maximum length of 15 minutes (including credits) and their production date can’t be earlier to 2023.

2-. All qualified short films will be announced and their authors will be notified by e-mail and/or phone.

JURY AND AWARDS

1-. This contest has no jury, the main awards will be delivered by public vote the same day of the screening.

2-. The prizes are established as follows:

Best Feature Film - €300 + trophy (Prize awarded to the most voted feature film)

Best Short Film - €200 + trophy (Prize awarded to the most voted short film)

Second Best Short Film - Gift Pack + Trophy (Prize awarded to the second most voted short film)

Best-Worst Short, Gift Pack + trophy (prize awarded by the organization)


3-. The audience voting and the organization voting decisions are unappealable.

4-. The organization may declare any prize null and void if they consider so.

5-. Awards will be delivered during the Festival only to the work’s director or, alternatively, to another person previously authorized by him/her. In case that the winner/s can't attend the festival, the award will be sent by mail.


OTHER CLARIFICATIONS

1-. Entry in this contest implies full acceptance of this rules.

2-. Joining the competition grants the Festival the right to promote the pieces, using only partial reproduction on its broadcast (in no case will the pieces be fully exhibites on any social network: Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, etc…).

3-. Works that not meet the requirements will not be accepted nor returned.

4-. The Festival reserves the right to modify the terms, previously noticing it to the participants, and the right to cancel the competition in case of low turnout.



  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
