GENERAL RULES OFFICIAL COMPETITION SECTION

PARTICIPANTS

Participation is open to all film producers and directors who submit their short films, whether nationally or internationally produced.

REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDIOVISUAL WORKS

Feature films: fiction, animation, or documentary with a running time of over 60 minutes.

Short films: fiction, animation, or documentary with a running time of less than 30 minutes.

Works must be submitted in their original version (with Spanish subtitles, if applicable). Works filmed in other languages ​​that are not submitted with Spanish subtitles will be excluded.

Works must have been produced after January 1, 2025. Each author may participate with a maximum of one work. Authors are responsible for the rights to their works.

DATES AND VENUE

The festival will take place from February 25, 2027, to March 20, 2027.

All festival activities and screenings will be held at the "Pintor Fausto Velázquez" Cultural Center in La Algaba (Seville).

SELECTION PROCESS. REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION OF COPIES FOR THE PRE-SELECTION PROCESS

Projects wishing to participate in this call for entries must be submitted between September 1, 2026, and January 31, 2027.

Registration can be completed through the Festhome platform.

Feature film projects will have a registration fee of €5.

Short film projects will have a registration fee of €3.

The selected projects will be announced during the week of February 10, 2027. No publication or communication of any kind is permitted in any medium until the organization publishes the official list of selected projects. Failure to comply may result in the project's removal from the selection.

Screening copies, along with the corresponding promotional materials, will be requested in the notification email if your project is selected.

SELECTION COMMITTEE AND JURY

From among the applications received, a Selection Committee, comprised of technical staff from the Festival, will select the works that will compete in the Official Competition.

The Official Jury, composed of at least three members from among professionals of recognized prestige in the various sectors of the film industry, will decide the final awards. Its decisions will be final.

REGARDING RIGHTS

Participants must hold the distribution and broadcasting rights for their work (and provide proof of ownership if required), including the soundtrack and image rights of any individuals appearing in the film, thereby releasing the festival organizers from any liability arising from third-party claims in this regard.

Short films that win a cash prize will grant, on a non-exclusive basis, the right to use their work for promotional purposes related to the festival.

AUDIENCE AWARD

The audience will award the Audience Award for Best Feature Film and Best Short Film through their votes.

* The corresponding tax withholding will be deducted from this amount.

Award recipients must comply with the provisions of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and must be up-to-date with all tax and Social Security obligations.

All selected projects will receive a screening fee of:
- €20 for short films
- €50 for feature films

WRITTEN REFERENCE OF AWARDS GIVEN

Selected short films that receive any of the Festival Awards will include a written reference at the beginning of all copies distributed for exhibition in commercial theaters and/or other venues. audiovisual competitions, as well as all informational materials. This reference will consist of a text indicating the type of award granted or the selection for the competition, invariably accompanied by the corporate image (logo and name) of the "Igualgaba" Film Competition, which will be provided by the Organization.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Submission of any work to the "Igualgaba" Film Competition implies acceptance of these Rules, as well as the resolution by the Organization of any issues not covered herein.

PROTECTION AND PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA

Personal data provided in connection with registration for, participation in, and the conduct of the Igualgaba Film Festival will be processed by the Festival organization—acting as the data controller—in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR), Organic Law 3/2018 of December 5 on the Protection of Personal Data and the Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD), and any other applicable regulations.

The data collected will be used exclusively for purposes related to the organization and management of the Igualgaba Film Festival. This includes the receipt and validation of entries, communication with participants, organization of selection and voting processes, management of juries, announcement of nominations and awards, organization of the ceremony, and other actions necessary for the proper conduct of the event.

Furthermore, participants agree that certain data linked to their entries—such as full names, titles of works, photographs, images, professional roles or functions, nominations, and awards received—may be used and disseminated by the Igualgaba Film Festival via its website, social media, press releases, promotional materials, publications, and other communication channels related to the Festival. Such use is intended for informational and promotional purposes, as well as for publicizing the event and the awards themselves.

Personal data will not be transferred to third parties for purposes other than those related to the organization and conduct of the Festival, except where required by law or where such disclosure is necessary for the proper execution of the event. This includes, where applicable, collaborating entities, sponsors, suppliers, or platforms involved in the organization, management, screening, voting, or dissemination of the Festival, always within the framework established by current data protection regulations.

Data will be retained for the time necessary to manage this event and, subsequently, for the periods required by applicable legislation. Notwithstanding the foregoing, information regarding the history of nominations, award recipients, and public activities of the Competition may be retained for archival, historical, informational, and documentary purposes, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Interested parties may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing, and—where applicable—data portability, as well as any other rights recognized under current regulations, by submitting a request to the organizers of the Igualgaba Film Competition via email at certamen.igualgaba@gmail.com. The email subject line must state "Protección de Datos" (Data Protection), and the sender must provide sufficient proof of identity.

Submitting an entry to the Igualgaba Film Competition implies that the person registering declares they have been informed of the conditions regarding the processing of personal data. Furthermore, when providing data, photographs, or information concerning third parties, the registrant declares that they possess the necessary authorization to do so and have informed said individuals—where required—about the processing and use of their data within the scope of this call for entries.

The organizers of the Igualgaba Film Competition will implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the personal data processed and to prevent its loss, alteration, or unauthorized processing or access.
