PRIORAT FILM FESTIVAL
The Priorat Film Festival aims to highlight the value of cinema in a region with limited access to commercial cinema and without a film festival of its own, with the goal of contributing to the creative, associative, cultural, educational and business fabric of the region and of bringing cinema closer to its entire population, without exception.
Screenings will take place in different villages of the Priorat region. In addition, there will be an opening screening and a closing ceremony with the awards presentation held in symbolic venues of the region.
Cash Prizes: 3,000€
- Best Short Film Award (only works in Catalan are eligible). €1,000.
- Best Short Film in a Non-Catalan Language Award. €500.
- Best Short Film Shot in the Tarragona Regions Award. €500.
- Audience Award for Best Short Film. €500.
- Best Actor Award. €250.
- Best Actress Award. €250.
- Priorat Award for Best Short Film, granted by the Priorat Jury. Non-monetary; a hamper of products and/or experiences from the Priorat.
- Honorary Award for Artistic Career. No prize money.
All original productions that comply with these rules may take part in the Priorat Film Festival:
- Priority will be given to works produced in their original version in Catalan in all its variants (the visibility of its dialects will indeed be sought). Nevertheless, this is an international competition and accepts works produced in any language, for which there will be a separate award.
- A maximum of three works per person may be submitted.
- Submitted works must be fiction (including animation). Documentaries, advertising spots, advertorials and music promotional clips will not be accepted.
- This is a general-audience competition; therefore, any genre is accepted.
- The subject matter of the works is open, but submissions that convey values contrary to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will not be accepted.
- Short films may not exceed 20 minutes in length.
- Productions submitted to the 2026 edition must have been made between 1 January 2024 and September 2026 for works in Catalan; and between 1 January 2025 and September 2026 for works in other languages.
- Prize payments will be subject to the applicable tax withholdings. The amount established for the prizes will depend on the festival's budgetary availability.
- Award winners are required to attend the ceremony to collect the prize, except in exceptional and justifiable circumstances; in that case, they must send a video to be screened during the awards ceremony. If a winner neither attends nor justifies their absence, the prize will be awarded to the second-best short film in the category according to the relevant jury.
- Any matter arising during the festival not covered by these RULES will be decided by the Coordinating Committee. Participation in the festival implies acceptance of these RULES.
SELECTED WORKS
The selection committee will determine the works that make up the official selection, and this decision will be final. The selected works will grant screening rights to the Priorat Film Festival for its duration, as well as rights to the promotional material (points 3, 4 and 5) for its promotion on social media. The representatives of the works must send us the following materials:
- High-quality screening copy, in h264 format.
- Subtitles (in .srt format) in Catalan, whether the work is in Catalan or not. They may also be embedded in the screening copy. If Catalan subtitles are not available, production companies must send a subtitle file in .srt format in Spanish or English.
- Official poster of the work.
- Three representative frames of the work.
- Trailer or teaser of the work.
If the selected work is registered with SGAE or another copyright management entity, the corresponding membership certificate must be submitted to the Festival. Without this certificate, the Festival will assume no obligation.
JURIES, PRIZES AND AWARDS
Two juries are established. The first will be the so-called Official Jury, made up of a minimum of three industry professionals with a notable career. The second will be the Priorat Jury, composed of various members of associations, schools and organisations from the region, thereby giving a voice to the whole territory. The latter will be responsible for choosing the winning project of the Priorat Award.
The Priorat Film Festival will grant the following prizes:
- Best Short Film Award (only works in Catalan are eligible). €1,000.
- Best Short Film in a Non-Catalan Language Award. €500.
- Best Short Film Shot in the Tarragona Regions Award. €500.
- Audience Award for Best Short Film. €500.
- Best Actor Award. €250.
- Best Actress Award. €250.
- Priorat Award for Best Short Film, granted by the Priorat Jury. Non-monetary; a hamper of products and/or experiences from the Priorat.
- Honorary Award for Artistic Career. No prize money.
