8th FICH Hermosillo International Film Festival
We are looking for fiction features and short films with the best performances. We will honor the best acting performances.
The Hermosillo International Film Festival opens its eighth call for entries, with the submission deadline running from May 25 to August 30, 2026. Filmmakers and audiovisual creators from Mexico and around the world are invited to submit their work to its seventh edition, which will take place in Hermosillo, Sonora, from November 25 to 29, 2026.
The rules and guidelines for participation are as follows:
Eligibility: All filmmakers whose projects are spoken in Spanish or include Spanish subtitles are eligible to participate.
Submission Limit: The number of works submitted by each participant is unlimited.
Subtitles: If your film includes audio in languages other than Spanish, you must include subtitles in Spanish.
Categories: The categories eligible to participate in this third edition are:
Short Films:
Fiction Short Film: Short films submitted to this section must have been produced between January 2024 and November 2026. The runtime of the works submitted to this section must be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes. NOTE: Only short films that have not been previously screened in the State of Sonora are eligible to participate.
"Hecho en Sonora" (Made in Sonora) Fiction Short Film: Short films submitted to this section must have been produced between January 2024 and November 2026 in the state of Sonora, Mexico, or by a director born in the state. The runtime of the works submitted to this section must be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes. NOTE: Only short films that have not been previously screened in the State of Sonora are eligible to participate.
Feature Films:
Mexican Fiction Feature Film: Feature films submitted to this section must have been produced between January 2024 and November 2026 and must be a Mexican production. The runtime of the works submitted to this section must be a minimum of 60 minutes. The production of these feature films must be 100% independently funded and cannot have received government support. NOTE: Only feature films that have not been previously screened in the State of Sonora are eligible to participate.
Theme: The theme for all categories is open.
