The Tequila International Film Festival, in its eleventh edition to be held from May 5 to 8, 2027, in the most emblematic sites of the Agave Landscape World Heritage site, its surroundings, and in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, calls on filmmakers from anywhere in the world to register their works in the following categories:

Feature Film:

• Fiction, Animation, or Documentary.

• Maximum duration of 120 minutes.

• In Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

Short Film:

• Fiction, Animation, or Documentary.

• Maximum duration of 29 minutes.

• In Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

Music Video:

• Free genre.

• Maximum duration of 5 minutes.

• Must have permissions and copyright.

• In Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

Jalisco Women:

• Short film with a free theme directed or produced by a woman from Jalisco.

• Fiction, Animation, or Documentary.

• In Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

Inclusion and Diversity:

• Short film whose central theme addresses social issues regarding inclusion and diversity.

• Fiction, Animation, or Documentary.

• In Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

Environmental Cinema:

• Short film.

• Fiction, Animation, or Documentary.

• In Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

Selection From Jalisco:

The best Feature Films and Short Films will be taken for competition.

• Maximum duration of 120 minutes.

AWARDS

Certificate of participation. FICTEQ will send all certificates of participation in digital format.

WINNERS

Prizes granted by our sponsors will be awarded in kind and/or as an Award (Galardón) depending on the category. In the event that the category is declared void, the prizes will become the property of FICTequila.

AWARDS (GALARDONES)

1.- Matilde Sánchez “La Torcacita” Award

For the best Feature Film of the festival according to the jury's verdict.

Consists of a statuette and certificate of participation, screening in the UNIFEST cinematographic network, a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, and a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition.

2.- “Luz de Agave” Award

For the best Short Film of the festival according to the jury's verdict.

Consists of a statuette, certificate of participation, a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition, and $5,000 MXN Mexican pesos.

3.- “Luz de Agave” Award

Also for the best work in the Jalisco Women category, as well as for the feature film made either in the State of Jalisco or produced by people from Jalisco ("Al Estilo Jalisco"), with a maximum duration of 120 minutes in the audience award category. The winner will be selected by the People Deprived of Liberty (PPL's) residing at CEINJURE Valles Tequila.

Consists of a statuette, a screening tour in different municipalities of Jalisco by the Jalisco Secretariat of Culture, as well as a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, and a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition.

4.- “María Victoria” Award

Award for the woman from Jalisco who performs any relevant position within the film industry (producer, screenwriter, director, actress, teacher, researcher, etc.) and whose work boosts the Jalisco film industry.

Consists of a statuette, certificate of participation, a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, and a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition.

5.- “Jaime Humberto Hermosillo” Award

Will be awarded to the film production, whether fiction or documentary, feature film or short film, whose central themes are inclusion, diversity, and topics in favor of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Consists of a statuette, certificate of participation, a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, and a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition.

6.- “Rigoberto Gómez Cova” Award

Will be awarded to the audiovisual production (music video) that stands out for its originality, creativity, and social message.

Consists of a statuette, certificate of participation, a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, and a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition.

7.- “Rizoma” Award

Will be awarded to the film production, whether fiction or documentary, feature film or short film, whose central themes are conservation, protection, defense of ecosystems, protected natural areas, as well as the wide range of topics surrounding environmental education. (The winning work will be used by FICTEQUILA and Biólogos Colegiados de Jalisco A.C. as educational material, always giving credit to its authors, upon prior authorization).

Consists of a statuette, certificate of participation, a showcase of film screenings in the Valles Region, Museums, and Universities allied with FICTEQ, a tour of Tequila for the winner and one companion, and a commemorative bottle of the festival's tenth edition.

POINTS TO CONSIDER

Works made by filmmakers from all over the world will be accepted.

The maximum age of the audiovisual material must be one and a half years at the opening of this call, regardless of whether it has been presented at any other venue or at any other festival.

Priority will be given to materials that are world premieres.

CONDITIONS

• They must not have violent or warlike content, discrimination, corruption, or any other content that denigrates or harms the society of Mexico or the world.

• All works will be part of the FICTEQ collection for future exhibitions in favor of art and culture, respecting copyright and the prior authorization of the filmmakers.

• FICTEQ is not obligated to pay for meals, lodging, and transportation.

• It is a regional festival, so screenings are held in tequila houses, Civic Plazas, at the National Tequila Museum, movie theaters in Guadalajara, university centers, and the Center for Regional Integration and Justice VALLES TEQUILA.

• Preference will be given to works that highlight universal values, peace, intercultural dialogue, justice, tolerance, gender equity, sexual diversity, people with disabilities, inclusion, indigenous groups, migration, education, environmental care, and others that help us build a better society. As well as productions that address elements that give identity to each country, city, or region of Jalisco, Mexico, and the World (stories, legends, traditions, historical passages, characters, literature, archaeology, music, dance, gastronomy, among others.)

• The call for entries will remain open from August 15, 2026, to January 30, 2027, until 11:55 PM Central Mexico time. No material will be received after that date and time.

• In no case will payment be made for the screening rights of a work.

SELECTION AND JURY

The selection of works will be carried out by the FICTEQ organization and film experts. The Jury will be composed of professionals from the film industry. Their decision will be final.

The list of selected works will be published on the festival's website and social networks 15 days before our eleventh edition. Selected participants will be notified via FESTHOME and/or email one month before the festival.

CLAUSES

• All the aforementioned prizes will be delivered to the winners of the works registered in FICTEQ in a timely and proper manner on the FESTHOME platform.

• In the event of any cost derived from the transfer of funds and shipment of awards and trophies, they will be borne by the winner.

• FICTEQ guarantees the shipment of its awards and trophies; however, it does not guarantee their arrival in perfect condition, due to handling and courier processes.

• The awards or prizes may be declared void by the judging jury.

• Any matter not described in this call for entries will be resolved at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

IF YOUR WORK IS SELECTED YOU MUST SEND:

- A video between 60 and 90 seconds long, where you make it public that your work was selected, briefly talk about yourself, your work, and what the audience will find in it.

- Screening authorization letter.

Once we contact you, you will have 2 weeks to send the requested material; if not, it will be automatically disqualified.
