The FICTU is a festival that focuses on short films and seeks to connect the audiovisual production of Boyacá with the current national and world cinema.
The festival has 4 competitions which are:
- Boyacá short films competition
- Colombian short films competition
- International short films competition
- Colombian feature film competition
Cash Prizes: 570$
FICTU has established the following cash prizes for the different categories, these may be extended but not reduced prior to the festival:
Boyacense short film competition COP $700,000.
Colombian short film competition COP $700,000.
Colombian Feature Film Competition COP $1'000.000.
The international short film competition has no prize money.
*The costs caused by transactions necessary for the payment of the prizes will be assumed by the winners or in any case deducted from the value of the prize.
In addition, special mentions will be awarded according to the jury's considerations.
From Tunja, Boyacá, the FICTU invites short and feature films from Boyacá, Colombia, and the world to participate in its eighth edition, to be held during the month of November 2024.
The eighth FICTU will have the following competitive sections:
Boyacá short film competition.
Colombian short film competition.
International short film competition
Colombian feature film competition.
The call will be open for film entries from September 15 through October 15, 2024.

For the Colombian Feature Film Competition, registration will be made through the platform https://festhome.com/festival/fictu.
The registration of each film to the festival is free of charge. However, please note that Festhome may charge films for the use of its platform.
The production date of the films must be after June 1, 2023 (01/06/2023).
For the Boyacá Short Film Competition, the director or producer of the short film entered must be a native of the department of Boyacá (or demonstrate residence in the department for at least five years). Likewise, the short film must have been shot entirely in the department of Boyacá.
For the National Short Film Competition, the director or producer of the short film entered must be a Colombian national (or demonstrate residence in the country for at least five years). Likewise, the short film must have been shot entirely in the country.
Short films whose main language is other than Spanish must provide the respective file with Spanish subtitles if selected.
FICTU explores all formats, techniques and genres; therefore, it accepts fiction, non-fiction, animation, experimental, and any audiovisual film with a socio-cultural and/or artistic value, either in its form or content, which the festival considers relevant to cinema and/or the world.
A film can only be entered in one of the competitions or screenings. If there is a double entry, only the entry that was submitted first will be considered.
Only films entered in the current version of the festival will be considered, films entered in previous versions will be discarded.
In case a film is selected, the producer/distributor must provide FICTU with a screening copy in digital format and minimum HD quality (1920 x 1080 px).
The duration of each short film entered must not exceed 30 minutes.
The films entered for the national and international competition must be premieres in the department of Boyacá, and must not have been exhibited in other physical and/or digital cinematographic spaces in the department.
The films entered must not have been broadcast or be openly available to the public on digital platforms.
By registering the film in the festival, the producer/distributor authorizes the use of fragments and promotional pieces of the film for the dissemination of the different activities of the FICTU.
By submitting the film to FICTU, the producer/distributor authorizes the festival to publicly exhibit the film during the festival. Other screenings of the film in complementary activities of the festival, and outside the dates of the main event, must be coordinated jointly and authorized by the producer/distributor.
By submitting the film to FICTU, the producer/distributor accepts the conditions of these regulations.

This is a competitive section that seeks to visualize the work of filmmakers from Boyaca.
With this section, FICTU wants to offer the public the possibility of encountering the idiosyncrasy, values and concerns of those who are native to the department. In addition, to open a space for debate about the emerging audiovisual industry in the region.
