The F I C S J (San Jorge International Film Festival) is an event that will take place from April 21 to April 24, 2027, in the cities of Montelíbano, Córdoba - Colombia. The primary objective of this festival is to promote regional, national, and international film production, and to boost the region as an epicenter for the seventh art.

The festival seeks to foster a circular economy around audiovisual production, generating increased employment opportunities and economic development in the region. Furthermore, the F I C S J proposes new cultural and folkloric expressions in the region through the screening of films that address themes related to regional identity and cultural diversity.

The event will feature a diverse program, including screenings of national and international films, short films, documentaries, lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and general cultural activities. Competitions will also be held among filmmakers to reward the best audiovisual productions.

In summary, the F I C S J is a film festival that aims to promote audiovisual and cultural production in the Córdoba region, Colombia, contributing to its social and economic development.

In addition to promoting audiovisual and cultural production in the Córdoba region, the F I C S J also maintains a social focus on various communities through its "La mochila del cine" (The Film Backpack) strategy. This initiative aims to reach different sectors of society, including rural student populations, religious communities, women heads of households, Afro-descendants, indigenous peoples, peasants, individuals displaced by violence, and people with disabilities.

Audiovisual training workshops have been planned for these communities, allowing them to learn new skills and develop their capabilities in this field. Additionally, thematic film showcases will be held, featuring motivational content related to entrepreneurship, aimed at fostering a new socio-economic dynamism within the territory.

Awards and ratings
The Golden Bocachico statuette will be awarded to the top winners in each category of the festival.

Special mentions will also be given to outstanding works.

Guidelines

Objective:

The main objective of the San Jorge International Film Festival (F I C S J) is to promote regional, national, and international film production, and to strengthen the region as a hub for the seventh art. Additionally, it seeks to foster a circular economy around audiovisual production and encourage new cultural and folkloric expressions in the region.

Venue:

The F I C S J will take place in the city of Montelíbano, Córdoba, for its first phase. Its touring phase (phase two) will take place in the municipalities of Pueblo Nuevo, Planeta Rica, Buenavista, La Apartada, Ayapel, Puerto Libertador, and San José de Uré, Córdoba, Colombia.

Duration:

The festival will run for four days, from April 21 to 24, 2027.


Programming:

The festival's programming will include screenings of national and international films, short films, documentaries, lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and general cultural activities.


Competitions:

Film competitions will be held among festival participants to reward the best audiovisual productions.

The best films will be selected across all competitions, including national and international fiction and documentary categories, focusing on themes such as environmental, social, disability, diversity, Afro-descendant, youth, indigenous, LGBTQ+, and gender issues.

The San Jorge International Film Festival will host thematic showcases including: Environmental, Gender, Social, Peasant/Rural, Afro-descendant, Adolescence, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and Disability.

Once a film has been selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival’s programming during the event.


Audience:

The festival is open to the general public, with no age or gender restrictions.

"La mochila del cine" (The Film Backpack) Strategy:
The festival will feature a strategy called "La mochila del cine," aimed at communities, rural student populations, religious communities, women heads of households, Afro-descendants, indigenous peoples, peasants, those displaced by violence, and people with disabilities.


Funding:

The F I C S J will be funded by public and private resources, with the collaboration of various organizations and institutions joining the project.


Organization:

The festival is organized by Corporación Yape Producciones, which features an interdisciplinary team of film, culture, and cultural management experts, ensuring the quality and success of the event.


Categories:

Filmmakers, producers, and directors may submit their works in the following categories:

National and International Fiction Short Films.

National and International Documentaries.

Note: The festival does not accept animated films.


Requirements:

Works must have been produced on or after January 1, 2026.

Filmmakers, producers, and directors may submit more than one work.

Submitted works not spoken in Spanish must include Spanish subtitles to be considered for selection.

Filmmakers, producers, and directors must provide a synopsis and the technical specifications (credits/spec sheet) of the work.


Selection:

A selection committee composed of film experts will select the works participating in the festival.

Filmmakers, producers, and directors are responsible for holding the copyrights of the submitted work.

The festival is not responsible for any third-party claims related to the copyright of the presented works.


Regulations

Article 1.

The objective of the San Jorge International Film Festival, in a spirit of universal friendship and cooperation, is to discover and showcase quality works to support the evolution of cinematic art and promote the development of film and audiovisual media worldwide.


Article 2.

This year, the San Jorge International Film Festival is organizing a national short film competition in the fiction and documentary genres, and an international short film competition in the documentary and fiction genres, competing for the Bocachico dorado (Golden Bocachico) award.

To organize this, the festival independently chooses and invites the films that will be presented in the Official Selection.


Article 3.

Only films meeting the following criteria may be chosen and invited to the Official Selection:

Produced after January first (01), 2026.

Not previously distributed on the internet.

A selection is considered international when it features films from different nationalities.

The running time of the films must not exceed 30 minutes for national and international short films, including credits.

Films that are not subtitled in Spanish will not be selected.


Article 4.

If your film is selected, you will be notified prior to the official press conference, which will take place at the end of March 2027.


Article 5.

The screening order and the selection of films into different categories based on their theme will be decided by the Festival's management and curation team, prioritizing environmental, social (disability, ethnic, and diversity), and gender themes.

The presence of the director (or another representative of the film) is mandatory at least on the final day of the festival. Failure to attend the closing ceremony will result in the film not being screened and being removed from the official showcase. If the film wins the Bocachico dorado statuette, it will be shipped to them, with shipping costs covered for both national and international short films.

Likewise, award-winning filmmakers must ensure their presence during the awards ceremony.


Article 6.

Any film selected for the Competition commits to displaying the logo of the San Jorge International Film Festival on all promotional materials—especially on the official movie poster—as well as the Bocachico dorado credit, if applicable. Furthermore, they agree to include a card mentioning its presence at the San Jorge International Film Festival at the beginning of the film.

The Festival will make these logos and cards available for each film.


Article 7.

The deadline for film submissions is February 15, 2027.

Submissions for the international and national short film categories will only be accepted through the Festhome platform. This submission platform does not include the regional San Jorge short film competition or the local Montelíbano competition.


Article 8.

The San Jorge International Film Festival holds the authority to resolve all cases not explicitly covered under these regulations.


Article 9.

Participation in the San Jorge International Film Festival implies adherence to these regulations and prior compliance with the pre-selection conditions.

In the event of any dispute regarding the interpretation of these regulations, the Spanish text shall prevail.




  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
