The Colina International Independent Film Festival (FICIC) is a competitive festival held in person in the municipality of Colina, in Chile’s Metropolitan Region.

FICIC was created with the aim of showcasing independent fiction films with a strong authorial identity, promoting new voices and contemporary perspectives within the international cinematic landscape.

The festival seeks to establish itself as a meeting platform for filmmakers, audiences, and industry professionals, encouraging cultural exchange and the development of independent cinema in Chile.

The 2026 edition will take place from August 2 to 9, 2026.

International Fiction Feature Competition

• Best Feature Film – USD $4,000
• Jury Award – USD $2,000
• Audience Award – USD $1,000

Total Cash Awards: USD $7,000

National Student Short Film Competition (Chile Only)

• Best Fiction Short Film – CLP $1,000,000
• Best Documentary Short Film – CLP $1,000,000

Community Short Film Competition – Colina

• Best Community Short Film – CLP $500,000

OFFICIAL RULES

Colina International Independent Film Festival (FICIC)

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

The Colina International Independent Film Festival (FICIC) is a competitive, in-person festival that will take place from August 2 to 9, 2026, in the municipality of Colina, Metropolitan Region, Chile.

Submitting a work implies full acceptance of these official rules.

2. OFFICIAL COMPETITIONS
2.1 International Fiction Feature Film Competition

• Open to Chilean and international productions.
• Fiction feature films only.
• Minimum running time: 60 minutes.
• Productions completed in 2025 or 2026.
• International films must be Chilean premieres (must not have been publicly screened in Chile).

2.2 National Student Short Film Competition – Fiction (Chile)

• Open exclusively to Chilean student productions.
• Fiction short films.
• Maximum running time: 30 minutes.
• Produced within an academic context.
• Completed in 2025 or 2026.
• Academic accreditation may be requested.

2.3 National Student Short Film Competition – Documentary (Chile)

• Open exclusively to Chilean student productions.
• Documentary short films.
• Maximum running time: 30 minutes.
• Produced within an academic context.
• Completed in 2025 or 2026.
• Academic accreditation may be requested.

2.4 Community Short Film Competition – Colina

• Open to filmmakers residing in the municipality of Colina.
• Fiction, documentary, experimental, and hybrid works accepted.
• Maximum running time: 20 minutes.
• Completed in 2025 or 2026.
• Proof of residence may be requested.

3. SUBTITLES

Films whose original language is not Spanish must include Spanish subtitles embedded in the screening copy.

4. SUBMISSIONS

• Submissions must be made exclusively through Festhome.
• Submission fees are non-refundable.
• The organization may request additional promotional material if selected.
• The participant declares ownership of the necessary rights for public exhibition of the work.

5. SUBMISSION FEES

International Feature Film Competition:

• Early Bird: USD $10
• Regular: USD $20
• Late: USD $30
• Extended: USD $35

Student and community competitions are free of charge.

6. SELECTION PROCESS

• A selection committee appointed by the festival will evaluate the submitted works.
• The official selection will be announced in July 2026.
• Once selected, a film may not be withdrawn from the program.
• The organization reserves the right to schedule screening dates and times.

7. SCREENING COPIES

• Selected films must provide a high-quality digital screening copy in the format requested by the festival.
• Sending materials is the responsibility of the participant.
• The festival is not responsible for technical issues resulting from incorrect files.

8. TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY

The festival will cover round-trip economy-class airfare, hotel accommodation, and meals for one (1) official representative of each selected film in the International Fiction Feature Film Competition.

This benefit does not apply to student or community competitions.

The invited representative must confirm attendance within the deadline established by the organization.

9. SCREENING RIGHTS

Selection implies authorization for the public screening of the work during the festival.

10. PROMOTIONAL USE

The festival may use excerpts of up to three (3) minutes, still images, and promotional material for non-commercial promotional purposes of the event.

11. JURY AND AWARDS

The official jury will be composed of film and cultural professionals appointed by the organization.

Jury decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

The jury may declare any award void if deemed appropriate.

13. ACCEPTANCE

Submitting a work implies full acceptance of these official rules.
