Caostica International Short Film and Music Video Festival has been recognized by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain as a qualifying festival in the short film categories for the Goya Awards.

Prizes: 6.500 euros (check the rules).

Caostica is an International Shortfilm an Music Video Festival that takes place in Bilbao (Basque Country) with these sections: Videozinema (Fiction Shortfilms), Animation and Videoclip (Music Video).
All prizes are given by a professional jury except of Bizarre Prize. The Caostica Association will award the Bizarre Prize to the participant whom best represents the fresh, innovative, quirky, irreverent, Martian, jokester, weird, risky, brave and daring spirit that characterizes this festival, regardless of the section in which he or she is registered. In addition to this the Festival will award other prizes such as: a prize to the best film in basque language (independently of the section in which its signed up); a prize to the best spanish shortfilm; a prize to the best work produced or co-produced in Latin America.

Cash Prizes: 6,500€

Prizes: 6.500 euros*.

-The award winners of each section will receive a trophy and 1.000 € *. The awards will be given by a professional and independent jury.

-Bizarro Prize: The Caostica Association will award the Bizrarro Prize to the participant whom best represents the fresh, innovative, quirky, irreverent, Martian, jokester, weird, risky, brave and daring spirit that characterizes this festival, regardless of the section in which he or she is registered. Candidates’ films for this award will be projected at the legendary Bizarro Party, and the winner will receive a trophy and 1.000 €. *

-BEST WORK IN BASQUE LANGUAGE AWARD: the Festival will bestow the Best Work in Basque language, independently of the section in which its signed up. The winner will receive a trophy, and a cash prize of 500 €. *

-BEST SPANISH SHORT FILM AWARD: The Jury will bestow the Best Short Film Award of Spanish Production. The winner will receive a trophy, and a cash prize of 500 €. *

-New to this edition is CAOSTICA MX, an expansion project of the Caostica International Short Film and Music Video Festival into the Latin American audiovisual industry. Works participating in the Official Selection of Caostica 24 will be screened both during the Festival itself in Bilbao (June 1-7, 2026) and in Mexico City (date to be determined). The following prizes will be awarded:

a.Caostica MX LATAM Award: This award is open to works produced or co-produced in Latin America (short films or music videos) that are part of the Official Selection of Caostica 24. This award will be decided by a professional Latin American jury. The winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of €500.*

b.Caostica MX Euskal Etxeak Award: This award is open to works produced or co-produced in the Basque Country (short films or music videos) that are part of the Official Selection of Caostica 24. The award will be decided by representatives from various Euskal Etxeak (Basque Houses) across the Americas. The winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of €500.*

c.Caostica MX Audience Award: This award is decided by the audience attending the Official Selection screenings of Caostica 24 in Mexico City, through a voting system at each screening venue. All works (short films or music videos) included in the Official Selection of Caostica 24 are eligible for this award. The winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of €500.*


*These amounts, where applicable, will be subject to the withholding tax resulting from the application of the current tax rules.

1. The rules developed are valid for all CAOSTICA 24 participants.

2. Nationally and internationally oriented. If a film is presented in any language other than Spanish it must be subtitled in Spanish, except in the Music Video section.

3. There is no limit of short films per filmmaker, as long as they were made after January 1, 2024.

4. Films that have been entered into previous festival editions will not be selected for this Festival.

5. The section of the contest you choose to submit your entry to must be indicated. The festival consists of the following categories:

a. VideoZinema Section: Fiction shortfilms. No documentaries. [Max. 20 min.] Prize 1.000 € + trophy. *

b. Music Video Section: works created to promote original music pieces. Any style of music. [Max. 10 min.] Prize 1.000 € + trophy. *

c. Animation Section: All animation techniques. [Max. 20 min.] Prize 1.000 € + trophy. *

11. prizes will be paid before the end of the calendar year in which the Festival is held. The Festival will not require the winners' presence as a condition for receiving the prize.

12. Films oriented towards tourism or publicity will not be selected. Other films that will not be selected include those that do not possess the necessary technical quality to be viewed correctly during the selection process.

13. Inscription fees are at the expense of the party entering the contest. Films that do not comply with this requisite will be not accepted.

14. Films can only be sent through the online platform Festhome.

15. Films must be sent in by April 10, 2026. Postdated films will not be accepted.

16. Only those films that the committee selects to be most appropriate to the spirit of the festival will be selected.

17. The Festival will communicate the official selection to all the participants 3 weeks before the beginning of the event. The Festival will ask all participants for a high quality screening digital file via e-mail.

18. The Festival will offer facilities through its travel agency and official accommodation so that the creator or representative of the selected work can attend to present it at the contest. In this sense, they will be able to take advantage of the special conditions agreed and a minimum allowance will be covered (accommodation, lunch and/or dinner) on the day of the screening of the selected work as long as reservations are made within the period stipulated by the Festival.

19. The Organization will use the registered work only for the purpose of the Festival and will always contact the authors in order to ask permission for projection in other activities outside the purpose of the Festival.

20. The Caostica Association will facilitate the physical space and the mediums for exhibiting selected films. Information about the films will also be included online, so the filmmakers must make sure beforehand that the content does not infringe on copywriting material or other third- party rights and absolves the organization of any legal responsibility.

21. Caostica 24, International Short film and Music Video Festival, will take place in Bilbao from June 1 to the 7, 2026 in several locations such as Bilborock.

22. Participation in Caostica 24 assumes full acceptance of the current rules and in view of the possible doubts in the stated rules, the criteria of the festival organization prevails.

23. The organization reserves the right to modify these rules. Any questions or concerns can be resolved by the organization.
