Festival start: 03 October 2024      Festival end: 12 October 2024

Globale Uruguay is an autonomous collective that generates spaces for debate through the dissemination of documentary films.

Committed to the present, we organize an annual festival to support the different struggles that pursue an emancipatory horizon.

We intend to strengthen links with other social organizations to generate debates and share materials and different experiences.

We want to participate in the construction of a critical thinking that visualizes the effects of capitalist globalization and forms part of the reflections and struggles of the movements that everywhere resist the attacks of this system.

Globale has its origin in Berlin -Germany- where it has been held annually since 2003, an initiative that has been extended to other cities such as Warsaw -Polonia-, Montevideo -Uruguay- and since 2011 in Rio de Janeiro -Brazil- and Bogotá -Colombia.

CALL 2024

During October, Globale Social and Political Documentary Film Festival will be held in Uruguay.

Globale Uruguay calls national and international filmmakers and any person or social group that wishes to share their documentary works.

The material sent must address current issues related to capitalist globalization, both locally and regionally or globally, referring to the following thematic axes:

1. Land, problems associated with land tenure, modes of production, water, pollution and extractivist policies. Displacement of communities and towns, devastation of natural assets.

2. Militarization of the continent, advances in authoritarianism. Repression and criminalization of protest.

3. Patriarchy, sexist violence, femicides, trafficking in women, girls and adolescents for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

4. Art, art as a tool for emancipation, art and political activism.

5. Migrations, displacement of populations due to socio-political and environmental conflicts.

6. Surveillance and social control. Use of technology for indoctrination and obedience.
