Festival start: 27 May 2026      Festival end: 31 May 2026

Horizons IA – Punta del Este International AI Film Festival – celebrates its first edition from May 27 to 31 at The Grand Hotel in Punta del Este (Maldonado, Uruguay). This new international event is dedicated to exploring the creative possibilities of cinema made with artificial intelligence and the new forms of storytelling that emerge from the dialogue between artists and generative technologies.

Over five days, Horizons IA will present a selection of short films from around the world, along with talks, meetings, and the participation of national and international guests linked to cinema, technology, and digital arts.

With free admission, the festival seeks to become an open space for discovering new perspectives, experimenting with the audiovisual languages of the future, and connecting creators who are expanding the horizons of cinema in the age of artificial intelligence.

HORIZON IA
FIRST INTERNATIONAL ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FILM FESTIVAL
PUNTA DEL ESTE, URUGUAY

1.- The 1st International Artificial Intelligence Film Festival (Horizon IA) announces its Short Film Competition, with the aim of stimulating and promoting film production in South America and the rest of the world.

2.- Films must have been made after January 1, 2024, and fall into one of the following categories: fiction and documentary (up to 10 minutes), experimental and music video (up to 5 minutes), and advertising (up to 2 minutes).

3.- Films may have been produced in any film or digital format, but must be submitted for screening in the following formats: H264-stereo-1920x1080 or similar (MOV, MKV, MP4, AVI). The use of artificial intelligence must be central and decisive in the creative process (image, sound, script, editing, or concept), not merely accessory.

4.- In the case of works that are not originally in Spanish, they must come with embedded Spanish subtitles or be accompanied by an SRT file with the time code to be translated into Spanish (MANDATORY REQUIREMENT).

5.- The deadline for receipt of materials is Friday, May 15, 2026.

6.- An international jury of three members will decide the awards in the different categories, and their decision will be final.

7.- The festival will endeavor to facilitate the presence of the filmmakers of the selected films.

8.- Registration of the film in the festival implies tacit acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen circumstances not covered in these Rules and Regulations, or arising during the Festival, will be interpreted and resolved solely and exclusively by the Organizing Committee, and will not give rise to any subsequent claims.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
