I Corti del Cinefest is the International Short Film Competition of the 7th Marzamemi Cinefest – International Festival of Mediterranean Identities, taking place in Marzamemi (Sicily, Italy) from 6 to 10 September 2026.

The competition is open to filmmakers and production companies from all over the world. Short films of any genre are eligible, provided they present a direct or indirect connection with the Mediterranean and its identities, cultures, history, or contemporary realities.

The festival aims to promote cultural dialogue through cinema, showcasing stories that explore the richness, diversity, and shared heritage of the Mediterranean.

The winner will receive the official Marzamemi Cinefest Trophy.

The award will be assigned by a jury appointed by the Festival's Artistic Direction and composed of professionals from the film and cultural sectors.

Attendance at the festival is appreciated but not mandatory.

Participation is free of charge.

Short films completed within the last five years are eligible.

Running time must be between 5 and 20 minutes, excluding opening and closing credits.

Each filmmaker or production company may submit a maximum of two films.

Previously screened or published works are accepted.

Films not in standard Italian (including dialects) must include Italian subtitles.

Submission package must include:

Digital copy of the film
Screenplay
Technical sheet
Short synopsis
Director's biography and filmography
Two high-resolution stills from the film
One high-resolution photo of the director

Submission deadline: 17 August 2026.

A maximum of 10 finalists will be selected.

The selected films will be screened during the festival in Marzamemi, Sicily, from 6–10 September 2026.

The Artistic Direction reserves the right to reject works that are offensive, discriminatory, or inconsistent with the spirit of the festival.
