The International Media Arts film festival seeks to enlighten, and entertain through the exhibition. The I.M.A.F.F has the objective of creating awareness through the projection of Independent films. We welcome submissions from a range of genres including short films, documentaries, features, animations and screenplays

The Festival opens its doors to film enthusiasts, movie fans and students alike who want to get their start in the industry by meeting and connecting with industry professionals. The Festival offers you the chance to meet other filmmakers and industry professionals to exchange ideas and collaborate in a highly creative and inspiring atmosphere. We strive to bring filmmakers from all over the world under one setting. We continue to represent filmmakers from all levels and experiences.

All films must be submitted in English or with English subtitles.

Filmmakers are responsible for sorting out the copyright on their own materials.

By submitting to us, you give us the right to screen your film in front of a live audience.

Nominations: All films nominated for every category.

Official Selection: Films selected for screening will be notified via email. If you received a Nomination email, but no Official Selection email, it means your film will not be screened, but is still a contender for an award in its category.

Award Winners: Chosen from both the Nominations and the Official Selection.

We may promote clips from your film on social media, based on the press kits you provide us with.

We retain the right to change the date and venue of the festival under special circumstances. All filmmakers will be informed about any changes through our online platforms.

We place no restrictions on your work in terms of premiere status or whether your work has been made available online.

Any technical issues with the submitted films are 100% the responsibility of the filmmakers. If, at the time of judging, your video file doesn’t work or doesn’t have english subtitles (if in a language other than english), it will be automatically rejected, without a refund. Please contact the festival team ASAP if there are any issues with the submission process, and a solution will be found.


By submitting to us you agree to our terms and conditions and to receiving marketing newsletters and discounts about film festivals in the form of emails. We will never sell your information to third parties.

Each Applicant must be 18 years of age or older,During the selection process, I.M.A.F,F Organizer will attempt to contact the Applicant’s using the contact information provided on the submission form to notify the Applicant of the Film’s acceptance status. I.M.A.F.F Organizer disavows any responsibility for, and will not be held responsible for, any failure to contact the Applicant using the contact information provided on the submission form. It is the sole responsibility of the Applicant to ensure that the contact information provided on the submission form is correct throughout the entirety of the selection period (FEB, 2020 to AUG 18, 2020

SCREENINGS DURING THE 2020 FESTIVAL:
Applicants acknowledge that BFF Organizer has the sole right to select the submissions that will be showcased, exhibited, and/or part of the competition at the 2020 Festival and has the sole right to reject submissions. Applicants that are selected must grant to I.M.A.F.F Organizer the limited license to screen/ exhibit the Film at the 2020 Festival, currently scheduled for AUGUST 29 – May 31, 2020, in Kampala, for zero dollars ($0); All ticket sales and proceeds are property of I.M.A.F.F Organizer.

If your Film is selected to participate in the 2020 Festival, you will be required to submit the selected Film’s script and a downloadable version of the selected Film for such research purposes. BFF Organizer will send an email to you with the delivery instructions. If a response with the required information is not received within forty-eight (48) hours, I.M.A.F.F Organizer may rescind the acceptance of the film.

PUBLICITY DELIVERABLES:
If a Film is selected for the 2020 Festival, Applicant will deliver Publicity Deliverables to I.M.A.F.F Organizer. the Organizer will notify the directors the selected films with details of how to delivery and the due dates of the Publicity Deliverables. “Publicity Deliverables” are: the trailer of the Film, the Film’s digital poster, and at least two stills from the Film.

By submitting a Film to the 2020 Festival, Applicant permits the Organizer and Festival Entities to use the following:
the Film’s title, the Film’s synopsis and other Publicity Deliverables, and any of the principal cast members’, director(s)’s, writer(s)’s, producer(s)’s, crew members’ names, voice, biographical information, and/or likeness, in the following media

I.M.A.F.F Website, I.M.A.F.F Social Media (including facebook, youtube), the printed 2020 festival film guide, the 2020 festival press releases throughout the universe, in perpetuity, without compensation, permission, or notification, solely for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, and promoting the International media arts Film Festival and the Film’s screening at the 2020 Festival

REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES:
Applicant represents and warrants that (a) he/she/it has the full right, power, legal capacity, and authority to license to I.M.A.F.F Organizers the Film’s rights for the purpose of exhibition at the Festival and to license clips of the Film and publicity photos to the Festival Entities for advertising the Festival for no compensation to Applicant or any third party; (b) the Film, and all parts thereof, does not violate any third party’s copyright or other intellectual property or other rights and does not violate any individual’s right of privacy or publicity; (c) the Film, and all parts thereof, is in compliance with any and all relevant laws, rules, regulations, whether state, federal, international, local, and those imposed by any union, guild, or labor organization;(e) if any third party fees become due such as union or guild fees, then Applicant will pay for such fees and costs. Additionally there is no claim or litigation pending or threatened with respect to the Production that would adversely affect the I.M.A.F.F Organizer.

INDEMNIFICATION:

Applicant agrees to release, hold harmless and indemnify Festival
Entities from and against any and all liability, loss, damage, cost and
expense, and causes of action (however named or described) with respect
to or arising out of (i) Applicants’ Film, and/or (ii) any breach or
alleged breach, or claim by a third party with respect to any warranty,
representation or agreement made by the Applicant.
