International New Media Art Festival Videomedeja

Videomedeja is an international new media art festival founded in 1996 in Novi Sad, Serbia, produced by the Video Art Association VIDEOMEDEJA.

The festival brings together international and regional artists working in video art and new media, with a strong focus on experimental, innovative, and avant-garde artistic practices. Videomedeja is a non-profit annual event lasting three days.

The program is dedicated to art projects that use new media for artistic expression and communication, encompassing a wide range of genres and forms that combine image and sound, advanced technologies, interactivity, and hybrid artistic approaches.

Donations

The festival is partly financed through submission-related donations.

A donation represents voluntary support for the realization of the festival and does not constitute the purchase of a service, nor does it guarantee the selection of the submitted work.

A donation waiver (fee waiver) applies only to early and regular entries and is available to artists who have had more than three works selected in previous editions of the Videomedeja Festival.

Requests for a donation waiver should be sent to:

(The title of the work and the festival year must be clearly stated.)

Donation waivers are not available for extended entries.

Awards

The Videomedeja Festival Awards were established to recognize and promote outstanding artistic achievements in the fields of video art and new media, with special emphasis on experimental, exploratory, and innovative approaches rather than production polish.

One best work of the festival is awarded, regardless of category.

Videomedeja Golden Recognition Awards

Digital certificate + publicity

The highest recognition of the festival, granted for an exceptional contribution to the development of the festival and the field of new media. The award is presented to artists for their body of work and lasting influence, as well as to institutions, organizations, and donors for their long-term support and contribution.

The Golden Recognition Awards are not part of the festival’s competitive program.

Award Ceremony & Publicity

Awards are publicly announced on the final day of the festival as part of the official festival program.

Publicity includes publication and promotion of awarded works and authors in electronic and print media, as well as promotion on Videomedeja’s official websites and social media platforms. Information about awarded works is distributed to more than 10,000 domestic and international media contacts via email.

Eligibility and Selection

Submitted works must not be older than two years.

Only online-based previews (YouTube, Vimeo, or similar platforms) are accepted.

Works containing offensive or aggressive content will not be considered.

Individual notifications will not be sent to all applicants.

Experimental approach and critical engagement with the contemporary environment
Use of new technologies in the work and/or its presentation
Interaction and social impact of the work
Technical and production feasibility
Cost-efficiency of transport and presentation

Deadlines

Early Bird Entries: February 1 – February 28, 2026

Regular Entries: March 1 – June 15, 2026

Extended Entries: June 16 – July 10, 2026


The selection committee will make the final selection no later than September 1, 2026.


COPYRIGHTS AND ARCHIVE

This part applies only to works and selections selected for the Videomedeja 2026 program. No other entries are included in the festival archive, neither are they presented at the Videomedeja website or considered for broadcasting or tour programs. By submitting your work for the festival program you agree that preview of your work will remain in the festival archive. The Archive is our institutional property and only used for internal purposes and only available to the Videomedeja curators. You agree that your work (or program) will be included in the 30. Videomedeja program: screenings/media projects 2026, in the printed catalogue, in Videomedeja promo video (10-15 sec of each work) as well as in the Videomedeja web pages within its database listings, represented by the title, author’s name, format data, description text and still image.

You agree that your work can be used according to your permit as submitted in the Entry form.



JURISDICTION, APPLICABLE LAW AND BINDING SUBMISSIONS

These Rules & Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Serbia. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Festival, including submissions, selections, screenings, permissions, or any information provided through the extern platforms submission process, shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Novi Sad, Republic of Serbia.

All information, declarations, and permissions provided by submitters through the extern platforms submission form, including answers to custom questions, are considered true, accurate, and legally binding and form an integral part of these Rules & Terms.


AGREEMENT

Please use one application per entry piece. Each entry is a sort of agreement and it is necessary to follow the submission procedure.



  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
